Yeah, I succumbed. Somehow, it got to my mom, who usually just glares at viruses until they decide to slink off and bother someone else. Then it hit me. I started coming down with a cough last Saturday. Sunday, I woke up feeling like utter crap. I skipped church, took it easy and mainlined every herb and vitamin I could think of with the reputation of fighting illnesses. No joy. Monday, I awoke with a fever and a distinct longing to feel as good as utter crap. Had to take off work, since one cannot be breathing the flu into students' faces. Tuesday, I felt marginally better, enough that I could rationalize going to work. From there, I've improved every day, and even managed to sneak in a few workouts without hacking up a lung. Today, save for a rough throat, lingering cough and draining sinuses, I'm fairly decent. Looking forward to being rid of the cough, which hurts.
Funny thing about Mom: She'll soldier through illnesses, taking a minimum of medicine and generally acting like if she ignores it hard enough, it'll go away. I get it, though, and she comes bustling in, fresh from the store, all, "Oh, here's some elderberry syrup! It's an old folk remedy! And some more cough medicine, just in case what you're taking isn't working well enough! And grapes, because my mom always said they'll cure what ails you! And a Costco-sized bag of Ricolas!" Gotta love her.
Anyway, my review of this flu is: Two thumbs down, no stars, would not do it again.
