I have the day off. What better way to spend it than online?

Neil Gaiman's blog today has the clip of the Marquis de Carabas' introduction from Neverwhere embedded. For those of you who don't know who Paterson Joseph is, this role is what makes me think he'd be the perfect Doctor. The introduction is a nice taste of this trickster-type ( Read more... )

As was Colin Baker (Arc of Infinity, as Commander Maxil) and David Tennant, in a way (assorted Big Finish audio productions, playing anyone he could get them to let him play).

I think it'd be a very bad call to have someone who had played a very iconic character on Who - say, John Simm - but a small supporting role three seasons ago? Not a problem.

Yeah, I've seen that clip and agree he'd be a great Doctor - he has the combination of humor and menace that would be perfect. He is lovely, too. If they're gonna get a new Doc, he'd be a good one to get . . .

I read Neil Gaiman's blog too, and agree that Paterson Joseph would make one heck of a good Doctor Who. I might actually decide to watch again, with him at the helm!

I saw Neverwhere on DVD and I watched the clip, because I didn't remember Carabas. It's an enjoyable clip, if not a particularly striking one. I don't see the combination of humor and menace, though. To me, the Marquis just comes across as creepy. Not funny, not handsome. Jut flat-out creepy.

If he does end up playing the Doctor, I suppose I'll get used to him. (On the other hand, I never got used to Colin Baker. Of all the Doctors, he remains the one that I absolutely cannot stand.)
