so this one time i went to rome with my best friends and their mama.
i don't think i could have had a better time...
300 and something pictures ahead, and this isn't even all of them. i'm warning you now.
byeeeeeeeeee long island >:]
k so.
our flight was delayed so we got to rome at 12:50 in the afternoon.
we took a cab to our apartment (rented) on via de babuino. it was so cute.
courtyard thing.
(the pictures of the apartment are on nicole's memory card)
we put our luggage down, changed quickly, and left to walk around.
a church:
buildings.
my favorite building ever! the victor emanuel monument.
nicknamed, "the birthday cake".
tweeeeeeeez.
they reminded me of africa.
we drank from a fountain!
bring your own cup.
or take a handful...
or hey, drink straight from it!
we got a little lost...
but then we got to largo argentina, the spot where brutus killed caesar.
it looks like a hand, no?
oooogly.
time for a snack. we went into a cafe.
awwww cute sistys.
cappuccino!
it was dark. we saw caesar.
o hay jesus...
WTF IT'S JENN.
underground walkway. takes you from piazza de spagna to via de veneto. including the metro, and other stuffffffffff.
"miserable menu reader"
on the way back from an excellent dinner, we went to the supermarket.
picked up some things for the apartment.
that was two days in one.
next day.
i remember i was running on about an hour and a half of sleep this day.
still so fun.
we went to vatican city.
piazza de spagna:
spanish steps:
ahahahah.
via dei condotti. it's like fifth avenue, only in italy.
only cleaner and smaller and prettier, too.
it was real empty though, 'cause it was still early.
tiber river and other things:
i wanna ride one.
i forgot what this was.
vatican city!
cute little boyssssss. with no faces.
we had to wait on the longest line known to man.
two and a half hours.
but very goodlooking french boys were behind us in line, pointing at us saying "american".
i really don't know if they thought that was a good thing or a bad thing.
when we got in, we got these little audios you listen to, and it tells you what everything is around the chapals.
we saw two kids from our school. what a small world.
no pictures were allowed in the sistine chapal. but it was breathtaking.
back outside. waiting on line for st. peter's basilica, where the pope gives mass.
swiss guard.
bewd.
inside the basilica. it was huge and gorgeous.
we saw dead popes.
walked home.
we took a nap and then we out for sushi. in italy. ya, i know. it was really good though.
tricia wore my necklace!
next day.
we went to campo de fiori (outside market) and piazza navona.
i bought hazelnuts to bring home to mama :)
i wanted to see the fountain of four rivers, but it was under construction :(
there was a group of kids holding hands and singing. they were adorable.
campo de fiori.
nicole and i asked this guy selling hot olives how much they were, and he tells us something in italian we thought was
"100 for £1." we told tricia because she loves hot olives, and she said she'll have some.
weeellll... the guy put a bunch of hot olives in a bag that were no where near 100 and it ended up being £4.50.
oops.
tricia went home because her feet and stomach hurt.
we went shoppin'.
nicole and i sat on the spanish steps later that night.
three italian guys who spoke barely any english asked if we wanted to go to the cafe with them.
but we couldn't, we were waiting for tricia and jenn to meet us.
how could we anyway, we could barely talk to them!
next day. colosseum and roman forum.
loved this place.
cute kids.
original marble.
by the time we left, it was sunny!
we headed to the palatine hill and the roman forum.
"caesar walked down this path... NERO!"
kittyyyyy.
arch of titus.
resting time. i am atrocious.
dog sleeping underneath a tree.
caesar's palace.
lots of tunnels.
play time at the apartment. nicole took the following. most of which are CANDIDS.
lololol.
<3
mwahaha.
next day. nero's palace. "domus area."
this used to be a fountain.
our reactions. dissatisfied, informed, bored/unhappy.
i DID want to see the naked statue of nero, though. :(
we went to lunch, then st. peter in chains.
hahaha this guy really wanted a picture.
college in italy:
it was so pretty and small.
moses.
st. peter's actual chains.
lit candles.
walking back.
and then... my memory card was full.
after thinking it holds 1,000 pictures, i came to find it only holds like, 400.
but nicole was nice enough to let me switch cards with her, she had about 300 something pictures left. she's a sweetheart.
fyi, i DON'T photoshop my pictures. other than resizing and adding borders, duh.
coming up next... italy pt. II. oh ya.
