Thor was awesome. Before I go on, I just wanna let you know that I neeeeeever read any of Thor's solo stuff, so I only see him when I read the Avengers or any major crossover books. Soooo I pretty much have little idea if the movie was that faithful to the origin. The only main difference I know is that his meeting Jane Foster (and her occupation, from doctor to...physicsdoohickey) is different.
The weird thing is that it felt like it went by fast. I think that's a good thing. I went into the theater at like...2:50 and go out around 5 but it felt like only an hour rather than two.
Anyway, the movie was cute and funny. Thor is very derpyderp likable and I -love- the Warrior's Three. Anthony Hopkins was awesome as Odin so much to the point that I almost forgot that it was Anthony Hopkins. Odin reminds me of Theoden from LOTR...which is a good thing since I didn't see him as Hannibal or anyone along the likes. xDDD The actor who played Heimdall (who is black, which apparently raised controversy with some conservative, pro-white American group who claim that casting a black actor [and Asian, with Hogun played by a Japanese guy] ruins the uh...history) was awesome. He was intimidating but even he had his funny moment, and not in a dignity-is-lost way.
Asgard looks awesome. The empty desert of New Mexico uh...really brings out its awesomeness. xDDD The cameos of Stan Lee and HAWK-EYEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~ were awesme too. And the mention of Tony Stark. I love the movie for its sense of humor. It knows what it is. My favorite funny part was when the Warriors Three and Sif arrived in New Mexico. "We got Xena, Robin Hood, Jackie Chan..." I wonder if they were going to say Gimli or something if they continued. xDDD
I think the whole romance with Jane Foster was a tad overplayed, like that was the main focus instead of Loki doing Loki things. Buuut whatever, I was under the impression that the movie was made just to introduce Thor to the audience so they can make the Avengers film already. That and at the end of the credits, it said, "Thor will return in the Avengers." Ahahahahahaha~ 8D;
I liked it and would watch it again (and not in 3D this time. My brother bought 3D tickets and it actually made it harder for me to watch- darker screen and such). It's very entertaining. I would not recommend this for people who forget that this is a film based on a comic book which is loosely (looooosely) based on mytholoty rather than a film based on mythology. RELAX AND ENJOY THOR'S HAMMER! (I know I did. c8) I think Iron Man is a better told story and fleshed out the characters more (and there were less, so that made it easier), but the Thor film is still enjoyable too.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA!!! 8DDD
I yoinked this Dragon Age meme from
bamftastik. Annnnnd because I have about half an hour on me right now (waiting for my time to register for a summer class), I'm gonna answer at least two of these.
1. Favorite Dragon Age game (i.e. Origins, Awakening, Dragon Age 2)
This is hard to say. Remember when I went back to playing Origins after playing DA2 and was mind blown at HOW SLOW THE GAMEPLAY WAS? Well...yeah. I don't know if I can get used to it anymore. :'D
Buuuuuut. Origins does have a better story and has better looking locations and maps (because they don't reuse maps much...even if they did, they had at least changed the colors and added things to them or something, rather than just block a path). I think Origins is better written and felt more "epic" than DA2. I know that DA2 is about how Hawke became the Champion of Kirkwall (s/he played bull fighting with a Qunari- okay) but I don't get how s/he became "the most important person in Thedas" or something as advertised. I guess it's the way how what happened lead to the changes with the mages and templars...but I figure that's more Anders' thing and not so much Hawke's, even if s/he helped him.
What I do like about DA2 is the more "cinematic" dialogue. I don't mean like, epic movie fancy FMV scenes or anything, but just that the characters actually walk around and do things while they talk instead of just standing there and making hand gestures. You know, Fenris pacing around and slamming his fist against the table as opposed to Zevran just standing there staring luridly at you. Though I guess the latter isn't so bad, but he could be...peeling an apple while he's doing it or something at least. I would totally listen to Leliana's stories more (instead of just pressing the escape button over and over to skip) if she did more than just stand there and wave her hands. If only the movements and writing were meshed together.
And as unrealistic as it is, the gameplay moves fast. At least it's quick to get over with AND playing a mage is WAAAAAAAAY more fun. My main complaint about it though is how the enemies explode so easily. I poke a fellow with a dagger and suddenly his body explodes into a bloody mess? Come onnnn. B| I mean, making the characters swing giant swords faster is one thing, but at least trrrry to keep the deaths as realistic as possible. Oh, and I hate the darkspawn design (whitespawn lololol). I'm glad you don't see them often. I prefer the ones in Origins.
As for Awakening, it's the same as Origins in terms of gameplay. I do love the specializations a lot more in Awakening like Battle Mage and Keeper. Holy shit those two are so awesome. It's in the middle for me. I would just put it up there with Origins. But I'd rather replay Awakening than Origins right now just because it's much, much quicker.
2. Favorite character
A very hard one to answerrrr. 8D; (Actually, almost all of these are for me.) All of them have their good points. I really do like them all, but I'll list the ones that tend to come to mind first.
Top 3 Companions/NPCs from Origins:
- Zevran
- Oghren
- Shale
- Soris
- Anora
- Ser Perth
Top 3 from Awakening:
- Nathaniel
- Velanna
- Justice
- Dworkin
- Seneschal Varel
- Wade + Herren (I liked them in Origins a lot too but Anora beat them to it)
Top 3 from DA2:
- Anders
- Carver
- Fenris
- Cullen
- ...uh...okay another meh thing about DA2 is that the NPCs don't really last long. Uh. Gascard DuPuis has a funny name? :'D
3. Least favorite character
I didn't think I'd have an answer for this one. I know I've mentioned that I don't like the chantry lady who always talks about food in Origins, but at least she was entertaining. There's also Arl Howe but he was voiced by Tim Curry so that just makes any bad guy likable. Vaughan was a douche bag rapist to the core but he was so bad and horrible that it'd be too obvious for me to say that he's my least favorite (it's like saying the bully of the high school movie is your least favorite because...he/she was a bully).
SO THIS
WOMAN TAKES THE CAKE. Srsly, folks complain about Anora betraying/manipulating the Warden- well, that's what you get for not being nice to her. But Petrice wanted Hawke dead just to make the Qunari look bad. THAT DOESN'T SOUND VERY CHANTRY-SISTERLY TO ME. She also had the viscount's son murdered to...blame it on Hawke! VERY NICE. That would've been pretty clever. Like, up there with Loghain blaming Ostagar on the Wardens. But it didn't work. :'D I didn't see anything likable about her and I try to find redeeming/likable qualities in every character. UNLESS she was meant to be the uh...symbol or something to show the bad side of the Chantry- while Elthina and Sebastian are the good, likable sides. I guess she served that purpose well 'cause she deaaaaad.

Welp, time to go to so-see-all-lo-gee. B| I also have the mineral exam to study for tomorrow. Yikes. But I think I will do much, much better than I did on the rock exam. The minerals stand out more for me and this time, we just need to identify them.
