Internet died at home and we gotta call the broadband service. Dingleboodles. At school right now.
I was reading Slash's self-titled autobiography and in it, he says something that I cannot quote exactly because I don't have the book with me, but it's something along the likes of, "if you know anything about a musician, it's that they are very good at borrowing" or something like that. It was said because they had no car to take them to the place where they were supposed to play, so they had borrowed a very old, and broken down one.
I find that funny though, because it's...well, according to the two sources I got in my head (my anthropology prof being one of them, saying so himself), it's true. When I get home, I'll take a look at it again and write the actual quote down.
Slash has said a lot of insightful things in his auto-bio though, which I will probably quote later too. I like his point of view on Axl (and the other members of GnR), let's you know a little more about him- at least, in Slash's perspective. I just love how chill Slash is.
I think if Izzy Stradlin stood out more to me as a kid (I tell you, it was Slash's hair that got the 5-7 year old in me to like him), I would have paid much more attention to him...because I find him to be quite cute. As a kid, I saw him as "the guy with the hat" (and Axl as the singer, Duff as the guy with poofy blonde hair, Steven as the drummer with the poofy blond hair, and Slash as the one with the fro).
Izzy, Duff, and Steven. The guy with the hat, the guy with the poofy hair, and the other guy with the poofy hair who plays the drums.
How they are now. They have nicer hair than mine. ;____; Unf, they have aged so fine, especially Duff in the center. (So Fine...that's another song of theirs!)
Slash with Izzy. I love how Slash is like |)
Slash with Fergie in 2010(?). If you ask me, he still looks the same. She and Slash performed
Sweet Child O'Mine with Fergie as the singer, of course. I think it's a nice cover. I just wish she had stopped with the stripper-like "dancing."
By the way, I wonder if he has been wearing the same hat this whole time.
Axl then, Axl now (who...looks like Bandit Keith xDDDDDD). Fans complain that he got tubbier over the years. It's called aging folks, it happens to all of us. Yes, including the Asian singers. The most recent concert I saw him and the current GnR perform was at the Rose Bar (er, not that I was there. I wish I was). I really liked his
Knockin' on Heaven's Door performance. Around 8:46, he hits that note we're all familiar with. He has a more "blues singer" look to him now. I wouldn't have thought that the guy on the same was the same guy as the one in the video...until he hit that note, that is.
The classic round up then, with the two blonde poofy haired guys, the guy with the dark poofy hair, the guy with the hat, and the singer. xDD
Ahhh should get back to this chapter summary. Sorry for skipping on the Marvel meme again and instead blogging about nostalgia on a band that...I don't think anybody on this list listens to. Sorry.
