(on Rubicante himself)

Personality: Rubicante is the most unusual of Golbez’s four fiends. While he is still definitely a monster and a general among Golbez’s army of monsters, he also has a sense of honor in how he is going to go about his duties.

Rubicante prefers fair and honorable combat against his enemies. He’s not one to use dirty tactics and he wouldn’t do anything too horrendous to comply with his orders. He’s not going to kill or main innocents if he can help it, only those who actively oppose him and do battle with him.

He is incredibly strong, and actually the strongest of all the fiends. While he is weak against water and ice, he actually found a way to counter that through his mantle. Truly, he is a very hard foe to defeat, but he can be defeated and was twice in fact.

Interestingly enough, he actually disapproved of what was done to Edge’s parents by Dr. Lugae. The King and Queen were turned into monsters, and the fiend of fire did not think that a worthy way to defeat ones such as them. He was infuriated enough by Lugae’s actions that he actually cursed the man, unfortunately that did little for the King and Queen of Eblan, and also for their son who will eternally hate Rubicante no matter what he says.

Strengths:

- Rubicante’s power over fire is incredible. Even at half strength in Luceti he probably will be one of the most powerful users of fire.
- Rubicante has a strong sense of honor. He isn’t going to attack someone who is unwilling to fight him and he won’t use anything besides and honorable and fair fight to kill them. Any of his own men who act against this may well see themselves cursed, as Dr. Lugae did.
- Rubicante will go so far as to heal his enemies before they fight so his enemies can fight at their full strength, that is how much he wants to be fair, a bit strange for a monster, but it is the way he is.
- Rubicante’s mantle protects him against many magics and while it is closed, very little magic can hurt him, even elemental weapons won’t hurt him. But at the same time, he is far more limited in the attacks he can use at that time.

Weaknesses:

- Without his mantle, he is very weak to water and ice.
- Being a monster, he definitely doesn’t look much like a normal person. He has a somewhat human appearance, but it’s obviously not human. He may not be a giant turtle, but it still is going to hinder any attempts to be social.
- Despite his element being fire, he actually lacks in emotions. He’s overly calm and logical. While it is a weakness, it also is a strength since he isn’t going to take on something he can’t handle or say something in anger that he doesn’t mean. But it is a weakness because at the same time, he isn’t going to necessarily be able to befriend people easily.
- While it is also a strength of his, the fire fiend’s honor can also be a weakness depending on who he is interacting with.

Third Person:

Something was definitely not right here.

No, it wasn’t the fact that he should be dead, this was obviously some form of afterlife.

No, it was something else. Water.

The fire fiend definitely hated water with a great passion. His first urge was to burn it away, but he knew that wouldn’t work- the water would just put out the flames.

With a great deal of very ungentlemanly cursing, he jumped out of the water and attempted to dry himself off the best as he could. Not an easy feat since all he could find was grass and trees, but it could be done. Once he was mostly dry of that foul water, he made himself a small fire to finish the process. Well, a small fire to him. Then he could consider the surroundings better.

The slight pain on his back didn’t escape him, he just only now could deal with that. He had originally thought it was because of that foul water, but now that he was mostly dry, the dull pain was still there. If he was dead, there shouldn’t be such a thing, right?

What he found surprised him, wings? Now he was even more confused. He fully expected to go to Hell when he was defeated, and hell was supposed to be a place of fire, a place he would find like home. Wings were for heavenly beings, which he was not. Of course, the water could well be that he got a very special version of Hell more appropriate for a creature of fire.

This wasn’t making the least bit of sense. Neither was the fact that his clothes were missing and replaced with a very horrible pair of white pants, and his injuries that had caused his demise were gone now.

What infuriated him the most was that his precious mantle was gone and replaced with these silly pants and some weird book. How dare they take his things while he was defenseless! But what sort of thief would leave him with something not his?

He opened the book in hopes that it held some sort of answer as to what this place was, if he was alive or dead, and the most important, how to get his mantle back. He hated being defenseless more than being dead.

He found himself idly scribbling some words into the book. Nothing important, just random scribbles as he tried to think. He didn’t know what it was and it was something to keep his hands busy so he didn’t burn the whole place down while he figured out what was going on.
