Soulless by Gail Carriger

My Twenty-Second book for ljbookbingo is Soulless by Gail Carriger for the One Word Square, table found here:

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.
Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire -- and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.
With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart? ~Amazon Book Description

I bought this book because the blurb on the inside cover sounded very interesting plus it was a special edition that had several beautiful illustrations in it.  Overall I enjoyed the book. The protagonist Alexia is forthright and intriguing.  Her love interest the local werewolf Alpha Lord Maccon is handsome and headstrong as well.  I enjoyed the steampunk/Jane Austen/Supernatural fusion feel to Soulless.  It is the first in the series and although I liked it I really don't see myself rushing out to read the sequel.  The description for the next book just didn't pique my interest enough and this one ended at a good place so eventually I will probably read it but I am in no rush.
