The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra & The Correction of Folly
I was away on vacation for a few days had lots of fun and now I am back. We went to an amusement park and visited a huge used bookstore which was my favorite part and I found a book or two while I was there. I had time to read and managed to finish another book.

I read a lot of mysteries and most take place in America or England so it was nice to read a mystery in a different locale. The book is set in Mumbai and the author takes us on a tour of the city as Inspector Ashwin Chopra (Ret.) tries to solve the murder of a young boy and figure out what to do with a baby elephant that was given to him by his uncle. I liked Chopra, he is a good and honorable man. Also he is an interesting character, as he struggles with retirement, and a mystery that ends up being more complicated and more personal then it seems at first glance. I will definitely be reading the next one.

I am using one of my substitution squares for this one. I am replacing the Horror square with a Romance. Another au Jane Austen couple I enjoy is Elinor/Colonel Brandon. They are a less popular pairing so there aren't as many books written about them so when this book was recommended to me I immediately snatched it up. I enjoyed this story for the most part. Brandon and Elinor are two of my favorite characters and I have always felt they were better suited to each other then who they ended up with. This is not only an engaging story but it is also very well written. The characters of Brandon and Elinor felt in character. Their interactions were so lovely and sweet as they grow from friends to more. Not only do you get to read about the two of them getting together but the second half you get to read how their first couple of months as a married couple progresses. There are several crossovers with other Jane Austen characters that was a surprise. (Also just a warning there is a rape that happens off page to a well known character from another Jane Austen book nothing graphic but I found it unsettling.) The reason I didn’t give the book 5 stars was because there were several scenes that felt repetitive and a few scenes that seemed to drag on. Overall though I greatly enjoyed the book and will probably read the next one in the series.
