The book definitely has issues BUT I still enjoyed it flaws and all.

I also have a few Poirot books I haven't read but I was too curious about this one so when I found it at a charity shop I picked it up.

glad you enjoyed it. It's sounds like you were similar to me with the Sherlock Holmes book I read. It wasn't Conan Doyle but a new author. I was nervous but it was actually really well written and I'm reading more.
