Forbidden Love:
I was a bit stymied by this prompt at first until I remembered one of my all time favorite characters, the angel Castiel. Because love between angels and humans is forbidden by heaven and humanity and yet in spite of that, Team Free Will has forged their own family, they love each other and will protect each other with their very lives if need be. So the first 9 recs are all with my favorite found family. Enjoy!
1. Cut the Cord by Sea-Wren (Fic)
This story takes place shortly after Abandon All Hope. Dean needs to get his car back and he calls on Castiel to help. Everything goes wrong fairly quickly. I love how Team Free Will pulls together to solve the problem. It shows their love for each other.
2. The Shattered One by Missannthopic (Fic)
This is an mpreg story for people who don't like mpreg. Castiel's grace is shattered unexpectedly as an act of God. Soon Castiel will be in charge of a little one if he survives the process. I love how the author doesn't sugarcoat what Castiel's emotions are considering he had no choice in the matter whatsoever. I also love is how supportive Dean and Sam are through everything. Once again showing that forbidden love that human's and angels are not supposed to have for each other.
3. Human Weakness by Soledad (Fanvid)
This fanvid brilliantly takes you on Castiel's journey from not understanding why Anna would ever choose to fall to telling both Sam and Dean he loves them. It is a beautifully done video that perfectly highlights the love that he comes to feel for humanity
4. Checking In by mysticmajestic (Fic)
Sam checks in with Castiel after the harrowing events of S12E12 Stuck In The Middle (With You). What I love about this fic is that it showcases Sam and Castiel's tragically underrated friendship. The boy with the demon blood and the angel with too much heart, shouldn't have ever been friends much grown to love each other as family.
5. In The Aftermath by cenotaphy (Fic)
This is also an episode tag for S12E12 Stuck In The Middle (With You). This story deals with the emotional impact on Cas after he almost died. What sets this apart for me from other such fics is that both Dean and Sam take care of Cas as he tries to deal with the aftermath. I especially loved Sam's insight that helps Cas realize he wasn't alone in this situation. The three of them shouldn't love each other as family as it is forbidden but they do and that is truly beautiful. They are the definition of found family.
6. heaven doesn't come with keys by Ryah_Ignis (Fic)
This is an episode tag for S12E15 Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell. Cas returns from Heaven wholly self-conscious of how much he has changed. Dean lets Cas know how he sees him. I loved how in awe Dean is of Cas' wings and how he conveys that to him. I love it when Dean and Cas use their words.
7. Don't Hang Up by Aini_NuFire (Fic)
This is a h/c fic that features Team Free Will as family, which is really my favorite trope ever. Cas gets hurt and needs Sam and Dean's help. The Winchesters drive all night to get to him. I love the way Sam and Dean worry and care for Cas, showing once again the love the three of them have for each other.
8. Enteraining Angels by Maychorian (Fic)
I love this story. Basically Cas is de-aged due to a run in with demons, he shows up at Sam and Dean's motel. I love this because Dean and Sam show how much they care and love Cas as they try to figure out how to get back adult Cas and keep kid Cas safe until they do and along the way they figure out they are already family.
9. My Brother's Keeper by Otterling (Fic)
Dean and Sam find a baby who turns out to be Cas. They must then find out what happened to turn their friend into the infant they see before Them. Soon they find out that Cas is being hunting by demons who would use him for a sacrifice to bring about a great evil. This is a epic story clocking in at 93,000+ words, and we get to see Cas, Sam, Dean, and Bobby as family as they try to solve the mystery and keep Cas safe.

10. The Adventures of the Jade Seal by SteampunkMagic (Elementary, Fic)
Author's description: When a shipping magnate dies of a Chinese poison, London’s most famous detective Sherlock Holmes teams up with Joan Watson, the daughter of a Chinese diplomat, to solve the case. Battling crime lords, and each other’s passions these detectives may just change the course of history. I loved that stempunkmagic set this AU back in Victorian times, it is so well done. I chose this for forbidden love because not only is their relationship considered untoward but their love of solving mysteries is also forbidden. What I love the way Joan and Sherlock interact is in character and very entertaining but they are also held in check (somewhat) by the societal conventions they are forced to attend to. At the same time they rebel against those conventions as they try to solve a mystery, and end up falling in love with each other. Honestly it is well written and a very intriguing read.
11. East of the Sun and West of the Moon by Alydia Rackham (Twilight, Fic)
Love between a Werewolf and a Vampire is the definition of forbidden love. This is Leah/Edward story that took me by surprise. What I absolutely loved about this story is how the author allows both Leah and Edward to grow as people they move beyond the limited script they were given in the books. It is an indepth lovely story. Author's summary: AU ending for New Moon. What if, when Edward suspects Bella is dead, he instead rushes back to Forks? What struggle would he face when he finds she's alive? And what if the only one who discovers he's back is Leah Clearwater? Warning: attempted suicide, violence.
12. (AU) Fringe: Peter/Olivia - Unfaithful by MinyaChan627 (Fringe, Fanvid)
This is a very well done AU vid that takes on the story of forbidden love. It is a love triangle between Peter, Olivia, and John. The way the author edited the video together is brilliant. The music and the edits builds a believable story of regret and betrayal.

13. Synth Sense aka the Rest Stop fic by Freya-Kendra (Sentinel, Fic)
Blair runs away after the final episode, trying to escape the humiliation of academic suicide that he committed to save Jim. Unfortunately, he runs into the wrong people and gets experimented on. Very well written and I love the friendship between Blair and not only Jim but the rest of Major Crimes.
14. A Place to Start Over by Angie (Magnificent Seven, Fic)
Takes place in the Old West but is an AU where Nathan is a only fourteen and he has runaway from a South that was still reeling from the end of the Civil War and the death of his family by the hands of angry southerners. He comes upon Four Corners and meets the rest of the Seven. He will need them as he is accused of a crime he did not commit. This is a great AU story that gives focus to an often little used character.
15. Easier Said Than Done by Sue Kelly (Sentinel/Highlander, Fic)
Richie runs away from Seacouver after witnessing a murder. He ends up in Cascade and eventually running into Jim and Blair. What I loved about this crossover was the first season family of Tessa, Duncan, and Richie. You really get to see how much they love and care for each other. Plus you get an awesome Richie Blair friendship.
