Author: Honor_Reid
Fandoms: NCIS, BBC Atlantis, Magnificent Seven, Ivanhoe, Star Trek, LOTR, Sherlock, Doctor Who, and M*A*S*H.
H/C: Healers.

Notes:This was done for hc_bingo and the prompt: healer, table found Here. I focused on my favorite healers through many different fandoms.

1. The Color that Divides by Linda T.
I choose this story for this category because Nathan is the healer of the group and the others relay on him to heal them when needed, but in this story Nate is the one in need of support. Nathan is accused of allowing a patient to die. He is arrested and put on trial. This is a very well written story that deals not only with the incident but also with racism and how that affects every aspect of the situation. I love Nathan’s pov and how much of his history we are given as the story progresses. The team rallies around their friend; it is an exciting story that takes a serious look at a tough subject. Warnings: Racism, Racial Slurs, and Violence

2. Migraine by Hombre (Magnificent Seven-ATF Verse)
The previous rec takes place in the Old West this one takes place in the ATF verse and Nathan is now a medic/explosives expert. Chris gets a migraine and Nathan is there to help his boss and friend. What I loved about this story is how we actually get to see Nathan in his capacity as the team’s medic. The way he cares for and treats Chris shows how great of healer he is! Warnings: None

3. Not Words by Enthusiastic Fish (NCIS)
This is a rare story that gives one Dr. Donald Mallard aka Ducky center stage. Tim and Ducky end up on the same subway car things quickly go pear-shaped when Tim is stabbed. What I loved about this is we get to see how Ducky, his medical knowledge, and his famous stories give comfort and relief to his friend Timothy in his time of need. So well done, it make me wish there was more stories featuring these two and their friendship. Warnings: Violence.

4. The Witch of Jura by Story Gardener (Star Trek)
Kirk is tasked with observing an invasion of the planet of Jura, observe only but not allowed to interfere. Things quickly go pear shaped, Kirk is injured and McCoy is desperate as they go on the run just trying to keep his friend alive long enough to get them off the planet. I believe this story fits the healer category because McCoy to me is the consummate healer; he is so passionate and dedicated to his patients and his profession. This story typifies this perfectly. Warnings: Violence, Torture, and Gore.

5. Hurt and Comfort By Firefly-Maj (LOTR)
Aragon is attacked by Orcs and is brought to Rivendell. What I love about this story is we get to see Elrond as both a Healer and a father and the toll that takes on him as he cares for a severely injured Aragon. Very well written h/c story. Warnings: Medical Gore

6. Vacare by Katiebugg1321 (M*A*S*H*)
This story takes place four years after Hawkeye and Margaret return from Korea. What I loved about this fic was how both Margaret and Hawkeye are still healing from their experiences in Korea but they are doing it together. They are now a family and it face up to their relatives and the world as a team. Which is lovely and everything I wanted for them. Warnings: PTSD

7. Apart Yet Not Afar by Zdenka (Ivanhoe)
The Ivanhoe fandom is teeny-tiny but within it contains some real gems and this story is one of them. Rebecca is one of my favorite characters of all time and she really shines in this story. Not only that but we get to see her as a healer, she uses her abilities to not only save her patients life but the life of her friend.
Warning: Violence, Racist & Sexist Slurs, Gore

8. A Little Help from My Enemies by chappysmom (Sherlock)
John is gravely injured in a mugging but in a shocking turn of events is saved by Moriarty. What I love about this story is when the tables are turned and Moriarty is the one who needs saving we really get a chance to see Dr. Watson in action. We also get to see him at his finest trying to save a man who on any other day he loathes. Warning: Violence

9. Bloody Nature by Basingstoke (Doctor Who)
This story perfectly showcases Dr. Martha Jones the doctor/healer. This is a slight au where Martha travels with Nine and during the episodes Human Nature/Family of Blood they end up in 1920’s England during General Strike. Martha actually gets to be a nurse rather than a maid so we get an excellent window into Martha as a doctor, and how she interacts with her patients and all the ups and downs with dealing with medicine in the 1900’s. Such a good read! I highly recommend. Warnings: Racism, Slurs, Violence

10. The Proper Care and Feeding of Mathematicians by deinonychus-1 (BBC Atlantis)
Pythagoras is the one everyone one relies on for healing and support but what happens when he is the one in need? I love this story. I love how it shows Jason and Hercules stepping up and helping their friend. Plus deinonychus_1 really captures Jason’s pov and how much he cares for his friend. Warnings: None
