Ohmiya: The who, the why, and the gratuitous cute.

EDIT: May 8th, 2007. Updated some info and added new "evidence"! :D

So, karinberry asked me to write up an Ohmiya pimp post. And... I sort of got carried away. A little. Maybe. Aaaaaanyway, here it is, in all its nine-pages-in-Word-single-spaced glory. This post will stay public for the public to enjoy.

Once again, as with the Arashi Pimpost: Feel free to ( Read more... )

I am with you on the "cynic when it comes to JE-Boys touching" (and YES! While I've seen various Akame/KamePi/Pin clips, I never once had the feeling that their touching was not deliberate fanservice!) and most of the times, while I'm amused by the fanservice, I'm very much aware that it is make-believe and that those boys, even if they're gay, are NOT the couple the hint at being.
With Ohno and Nino, though? Like you said, there's definitely something going on between them and while we'll never know what exactly is going on (though it really wouldn't surprise me if, in a few years time when Arashi isn't so insanely popular anymore, they'd make a huge scandal by being caught kissing outside a studio, or something), I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it was an attraction they have acted out on.
(Especially since, you know, I came to this conclusion mostly just by taking into regard the first few minutes of a couple of episodes. I'm one of the most oblivious people ever, so for me to notice something like that on my own, it has to be pretty obvious...)

Oh, and by the way, since by now you're probably wondering who the hell I am: I came here via "Abscond Press" - I've just finished the Mafia AU and I LOVE IT! *insert heart here* I know it's gen, but I have to admit that I couldn't help imagining how Ohno and Nino might fall in love with each other... (and I sort of hope that Aiba and Koki might fall in love with each other because they'd be the most adorable and non-emo Romeo-and-Juliet couple ever and the world needs non-emo R&J to counteract all those boring, angsty little teenaged Mary Sues. I know it's not going to happen, but well, a girl can dream... ^_~)

(Oh, and I'm sorry for spamming you - I deleted this one comment because it showed up all scrambled on my screen and also I'm not able to keep my speeches short, so now you've probably got three notifications in your mail for which I'm sorry!)

LOL! Yes, EXACTLY. Nino has a very distinct presence around Ohno, like he's acting as a physical barrier between him and the rest of the world. On MagoMago even, when the grandparents get friendly with Ohno, Nino gets even more touchy, and it always makes me wonder what exactly Nino's trying to prove.

But yes, your comment made me squee because YAY, I'M NOT CRAZY! and also because you came here through MAFIA!FIC of all things and that makes me equally flaily. Because that story is my baby and my firstborn and. Now I sound insane.

And no worries; I don't get comment notifications for EXACTLY THESE REASONS! XD Well, and because I'm in so many communities it would be insane. Yes.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing! XD It's like he's in constant fear that Ohno might be snatched away from him if he isn't careful! Which really isn't how normal friends behave around each other, unless they're four years old and female...^^"

But the thing you said about him acting as "a physical barrier between him and the rest of the world" is really interesting. For me, a lot of Nino's actions concerning Ohno, even when he's whiny and silly, go into the direction of "I'm the older/responsible/more intelligent/more aggressive one" - behaviour which really reminds me of macho boys' behaviour around their girlfriends. (And I know little machos from Germany, Russia, England, Macedonia, Ghana and Afghanistan, who all act more or less the same, so I'm pretty sure this kind of behaviour is quite similar in Japan, too.)

Ohno is certainly not girly and I really doubt he needs protection, even if he tends to be a bit absent-minded, so it's an interesting question why Nino would think it necessary to more or less act as if Ohno was a girl. Maybe it was a single unknown incident when they first met, the same that also got him to call Ohno "Oh-chan" so early on? Or maybe, Nino only ever learned to behave armorously around girls and has been trying, for the last few years, to more or less clumsily adapt his idea of romance to a male love interest?
I'm probably reading way too deep into this, but it's fun and none of my friends share my interest in Japanese boybands, so you just have to bear the brunt of it... feel free to completely ignore this, or to tell me to shut up if I'm too annoying! ^-^

But yes, your comment made me squee because YAY, I'M NOT CRAZY! and also because you came here through MAFIA!FIC of all things and that makes me equally flaily. Because that story is my baby and my firstborn and. Now I sound insane.

You're definitely not crazy! After all, people have built a romance for Tuti and Nagayan from Tenimyu on less evidence and are very convinced that they're right. I believe you've got as much evidence to build your case as you can get without a real coming-out from either of them...
(And if it makes you feel better: When I was twelve, a friend's older brother, who was gay himself, took one look at one of our play-mates and told us the boy was gay. We didn't believe him and pretty much forgot the incident - until we turned eighteen and the boy came out to the whole school. My friend's brother had known about this boy on intuition alone, years before the guy even really realized it himself. And after half a year of lessons with him, our class started to wonder whether our German teacher was gay, even though none of us had ever talked about none school related things to him and we had no "behavioural evidence" to support our theory. When one of our boys finally asked him - the answer was positive. So I believe that intuition can really account for something, even if you can't back it up with hard facts.)

You don't sound insane at all when you talk about your story, don't worry! I know exactly how that feels like, when you have a story that really means a lot to you! Also, your Mafia-fic is SO GREAT! I'm rather caught up in University work at the moment, otherwise you'd definitely have a lot of squeeing posts from me, but let me tell you at least once that I truly believe this fic to be one of the very best RPS around!
The description of how Ohno arrives at the family's house, with his old, slightly tattered suit and only two suitcases with all his belongings, made my heart clench and it really showed, without making a lot of fuss about it, why a nice guy like him would get tangled up in Mafia-business!

And Aiba! His idea that it's okay to rob people, as long as you're nice to animals and pay your taxes! XD It's a kind of logic I can easily imagine Aiba to have...^^"

And Kame... ^__^ You know, if I was a thin as he is, I'd act rather strange, too...^^" He's probably half-mad with hunger! And I really wonder what Johnny did to push him over the edge... If it where RL-Johnny, I'd have a horrible suspicion, but in your AU... well, I'm sort of hoping it doesn't turn out to be the same thing it might be in RL. v-v"

Oh dear, I'm rambling on about your fic and should be doing something for university! So I give you a break now and instead ramble on when the next chapter is finished! ^__^
