I have a friend who's going through mental issues right now. I don't know how to help her.
Here's her last post. Let's see what you can make of it.

"Now I wonder... who shoved a flaming tampon up your ass?

So... we'll see what she says... How bitchy will you get if she diagnoses me, hmm? Will you claim to be "better at psychology, and psychological disorders, than a woman who's gone through college training, graduated, and has been practicing for sixteen odd years," as you accused me of thinking, or will you give it up?

Perhaps I should apologize. I'd forgotten that you know me so well that you would know if I had DID, or if I had OCD. I'm sure you know about all the symptoms I do and do not show. I'm sure you know about all my obsessions, compulsions, and rituals. I'm sure you knew that Obsessive Compulsive behavior can be a symptom of dissociation, as can be Anorexia/Bulemia. The other two disorders that I'm delusional enough to think that I have.

So I'm a danger to myself, am I? **laughs** Yes, I suppose I am. They should know, however, that the only thing I have been holding on for is colorguard, and if they were to send me to the hospital instead of letting me take those trips, I would have no reason to wait. Let's see how smart they are."

She's starting to scare me.

You know, she doesn't sound depressed. She sounds angry. This sort of fits in with DID; it can show up when a person subconciously starts to create a stronger, more powerful personality. So, angry.

DID is really very serious, and the treatments for it are varied. It sounds like whatever help she's getting isn't very good, and the first thing she needs is a professional that she trusts, or at least doesn't hate.

OCD can be serious, but not as often. It depends on her compulsions, really. My compulsions I've managed to work through, so they no longer inhibit my living a normal life. When I was little, they definately did.

I don't think she's suicidal. Self-mutilation... maybe. Watch to see if she consistently wears long-sleeves, has band-aids, or keeps her hands and/or legs hidden.

Hope that helps some.
