Thanks, all, for the kind words about our beloved nugget. They are deeply appreciated.
Today was my first day feeling remotely normal and human again, which bodes well. I lunched with a good derby friend who kept me entertained, and the mister and I dined with another couple and we all shared hilarious Natasha and Roxy stories (Roxy was their totally adorable English bulldog, who succumbed to a respiratory problem last year). The sun finally returned, which helped us liven up even more. And I watched an awesome derby bout online. Things are looking up a little.
Day 10. Your favorite local fast food place.
This one's funny for more than one reason. I live in a town with very few fast food options. Somehow the fine citizens of Hamletville managed to run McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen and Denny's out of town. We do have a (recently remodeled) Taco Bell, though, and two Subways. Subway... ugh. The mere thought of that place conjures up memories of the old days of slumming/touring/train hopping, where they were the only option for wandering vegans.
I did break down one late night after a derby bout a few months back and FINALLY ate a Taco Bell burrito. To say I was underwhelmed would be akin to describing the bp oil spill and a drop in the ocean. Why would people choose to eat that shit?
Anyway, answering the question: no fast food for me, thanks. My idea of fast food is hitting up our food co-op's deli, which is actually the shit (curried tempeh with a side of chipotle lime slaw? YES PLEASE.).
