I have a penchant for listening in alternating sections the news and the local mainstream alternative radio (102.1 the Edge) which as I see it in text is kind of awesome in its contradictory nature. The thing that strikes me about this broadcasting system is the essential requirement for repetition, because not everyone is glued to the radio for 6 hours in a row and can sense the playlist that they have on for the day.
No I'm not that bored but recognizing patterns is something subconscious and rather unbidden as with most of my greater skills. Also this makes me realize I really miss my iPod because the radio does not play enough mod music or loud british punk. (and I really need to make it out to the Mod Club on some Thursday, their radioplay was pretty awesome) Then again I'm getting in tune with what seems to be going on with the "scene" and am getting to that point where I might just admit oldness and go hide in my room with non-ultramodern music.
I eagerly await the coming of summer. People will be more free (for a time) and there will be hanging out and a new location of living. It feels like a changing of the age just a bit, maybe to something a bit nicer than before. I have hope for this new zeitgeist and that in and of itself is nice.
