So ridiculous that I had to queque for an hour to get a ticket for a 9.30 showing but OH MY GOD SO WORTH IT.
It is the perfect prequel, and not an unfortunate mash-up of reboot and prerquel like I dreaded it would be.
There are a lot of nods to the old films and it fits in with those seamlessly, and I was sad to listen to a lot of people aftwards who said they had never watched X-Men before, what.
MICHAEL FASSBENDER IS A WORK OF ART.
And he spoke German, Spanish and French in the film and the German had just a hint of an accent and I was in love. (Ok so Fassbender is half German shush)
AND HE IS GOING TO BE IN A JIM JARMUSH FILM, SOMEONE UP THERE LOVES ME.
KEVIN BACON IS THE BIGGEST BAMF WHO HAS EVER BANF'D.
JAMES MCAVOY IN A ROLE THAT I LIKE, what is happening to the world!
OMG I CAN'T WAIT FOR ALL THE ERIK/CHARLES OMG THIS WILL BE A FLOOD YES.
Also this film has Rose Byrne and Oliver Platt, two people totally useless for the story, but I do have a genuine soft spot for both.
By the way, Xavier's mansion in the film is Englefield House in Berkshire near Reading, which is also pretty close to Highclere Castle in Hampshire which served as Downton Abbey, which is why I am going to fit both into the castle tour that I wanted to do this spring but will have to do in 2013 instead because I got ill~
Ok, so the story is not really a highlight, but I love the characters to bits.
Also thank you cinema for providing me with trailers for Real Steel, which actually looks good, not that I wouldn't have gone to see it either way, it's Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman is nowhere in sight.
Aaaand there was Captain America, so much unexpected love there! Even though Joe Mazello will forever be the person i wanted to play this role and I will keep believing there was an audition and they ruled out his bambi face, LET ME HAVE DREAMS.
The second trailer for Green Lantern on the other hand cooled my excitement and bit... and lowered my expectations.
Anyway, X-Men, GO.
