i lost paper records of my NYS observation hours required for student teaching. in order to student teach in the spring and graduate in june, i would have to do 70 observation hours before december 11th. this is doable but i also have 2 papers and a final project due around the same time. between this and a lack of secure, affordable, full-time childcare for eloise, i decided (the decision has been made for me, really.) to postpone graduation until 2011.
in order to remain optimistic and not lose my shit over my inherent ability to lose an elephant in a room having to toss the master plan on the backseat for 1.5 years, here are the potential positive effects of taking a break:
1. i can focus on applying to the theatrical wardrope union and getting dresser work.
2. i'll have time to work on getting my doula certification.
3. i can do one class + student teaching over 3 semesters instead of 2 classes + student teaching in one semester, thus eliminating high levels of stress from my family life.
4. i can work, part-time. bringing in as little as $100 a week would make an enormous difference in our finances.
