"You didn't have a ring with you when you asked her, did you?" Pi asks him now, in an almost disparaging manner just short of actually saying, you IDIOT, that completely stamps his casually nonchalant so-called marriage proposal as lame.

And so Ryo vows that the next time he asks her, he'll do everything right. He chooses a three-stone diamond engagement ring from Tiffany, reserves the entire roof deck of a five-star hotel where the Tokyo lights were most breathtaking and arranges to have an elaborate romantic dinner set up there, complete with a violinist to serenade them as they dine. It all goes according to plan, except on the day Ryo planned to propose, he inadvertently forgets to check the weather. It is the violinist who dashes away first to take cover, leaving the two of them under the torrential downpour and whipping winds. They are soaking wet by the time Ryo grabs Erika's hand and pulls her inside the actual hotel

gorgeous gorgeous, kai-tan. i just--i love all the little details of this piece, from how they sit together on the bed (with erika and her markers. i just. this image is so endearing, especially with her pointing out where they bought the markers.) to the way they just decided to go to vegas and the way ryo says, "Marry me, would you?" like that's it, like that's all that's needed. because in the end that IS all that's needed.
