David Tennant is
rumored to be playing Thranduil in the Hobbit.
I think that's neat. Speaking as fan of Tennant's, and of Thranduil, who is frankly speaking kind of a jerk and therefore a fairly interesting character, I'd like to see his take on him. Since in LotR the various elves are pretty much unearthly and wonderful and mysterious--it'd be nice to see Thranduil's suspicion and grasping-ness and disconnection from the rest of ME played out by this pretty talented actor.
Actually, though, my major interest is in who will be playing Thorin, who I always felt was the most compelling character in the story, and who gets all the best lines. Plus the famous last stand. Yay!
Apparently it's
this guy, who I think seems way, way too young and not nearly gritty enough to be the dwarf. But...it could still work out. Time will tell.
