Ugh rich people ugh
ETA: Sorry for being obscure. Just visited a local country club for an interview. Drove past homes literally worth millions of dollars. Completely failed to comprehend the desire to own a home worth millions of dollars--or to be a member of a country club.
I had a fit of giggles as I drove by them though. It brought a tear to my

And I imagine that the money would be nice, though if I had it I'd use it as an excuse to travel. Everywhere. In the world. And do all those hiking excursions and stuff. So I have thought about it, but just not in terms of property but in terms of all the things I'll never get to do. So I can maybe try to understand it that way. I'll probably never really get it though. And I'll always look at huge occupied swaths of land and think, "This should be knocked down so we can put in a forest."
Well if you ever *do* get the fancy pants house in wherever, I hope the person managing your cash and stuff is a decent one. Anyway, I just don't think I could deal with it, especially if I had someone else handling it for me. I'd be like, "Dude, who are you , why are you in my house? Leave!" And then I'd be one of those creepy old ladies living alone in some once-glorious home that the local kids tell stories about. And the window-panes would be coated with salt. So ti's just as well it's your dream, and not mine. ;)

And then you get to do things like sit on boards and volunteer more at non-profits or set up your own non-profit.
And I do kind of get you on the obscenity- when I lived in tahoe, I had to drive past all these insane empty houses that were built as nothing but a way to waste money- they were ridiculously large and ostentatious, and I hate that. I don't believe in money for money's sake, but it can buy you nice experiences. So the multi-million dollar home in San Francisco? Buys you the experience of living in San Francisco, and for a few more million, buys you the experience of views of the bay. Okay, so i probably wouldn't buy in san francisco for myself, it's ridiculously overpriced, but if I were rich rich rich rich, I'd buy my mom a nice apartment there because she loves it.
