WHERE IS YOU HAPPY ENDING NOW??
Someone write some John POV fic where wee!Sam and wee!Dean are suddenly saddled with their adult selves' memories and psychological dysfunctions. They still have their preseries personalities but suddenly Sam is having Hell-o-vision and talks to the invisible devil and Dean is having horrible flashbacks and and fits in the middle of the thrift store where he'll just stand in the aisle and scream and scream and scream.
John tries all kinds of hunting tricks to fix his kids and can't because it's angelic interference or something, and eventually he has to make the choice between being a responsible dad who looks after his inexplicably ruined children...or dumping them in some care facility or something someplace and going off to hunt the YED despite the fact that suddenly all evidence of demons vanishes completely from the face of the earth....
Bobby can be involved too.
(Actually this is similar to a fic idea I'll probably never write that grew out of a desire to do a HS AU b/c I don't understand them and wanted to do something where an AU!Dean who is happy and generically 'popular football guy' like he always is in those fics suddenly starts to be exposed to the thoughts and memories and what-all of his AU self and it looks exactly like schizophrenia and he swears there's somebody in his brain and he can't control his own thoughts, etc., and AU!Sam is freaking out because in this perfect wonderful AUniverse things like that just don't happen.)
