It's good to occasionally be vindicated

You know I believed for years (ever since it first aired) that Dark Angel was directly lifting elements wholesale from Battle Angel/Gunnm, but at the time it came out I couldn't get people to listen to me. But it only just occurred to me this morning that, oh yeah, Cameron's much-trumpeted desire to make a live a

I've seen all of DA, but I like the second season so much better. Basically, I don't care much about Max, and I can't stand Logan, but the whole transgenic thing is interesting. And S2 had some bits that were basically the Alec and Joshua show (Jensen and Kevin Durand) which I liked a lot. But I have no idea who Desty Nova is because I don't read manga.

I really like the premise, actually, as derivative and trope-tastic as it is. So it's another series that I'll happily read Xover fic for, but I just can't deal with the actual show.

Desty Nova is a terrifying scientist with white hair who is responsible for all sorts of atrocities and craziness, but also has a lot to say about the meaning of existence and human life. Um. And he loves flan.

Hmm, that sounds sort of like the (deceased) "Father" character who created the transgenics, maybe mixed with the scientist played by Nana Visitor. I don't remember any flan though. LOL

I'll admit that the thing I like most about the show is the pretty Jensen, plus it's amusing to once again see him look small next to Kevin Durand (bigger than Jared) though big next to the girls.

Man I wish it was a better show so I could get into it. I really genuinely do. *sadface*

And as for Jensen, it's hard to decide how I feel about the pretty thing, since although he's technically the same age as me, I'd be watching a version of him who's younger than I am now (though the same age at the time of filming), and then it all gets confusing and I have to give up and focus on like, plot or whatever. It's like time travel, only more annoying.

But the fic is often fun, so that's a consolation anyway!

I am pretty sure the first season was far weaker than the second, but I can't really say for sure. I adored the show when it was on and my tastes in high school were....questionable.

I'm definitely getting the impression that if i should attempt it again I should just skip straight to the second season. And I did make an honest, genuine attempt to watch it back when it first aired, and I just could not get into it. And this was back when sci-fi and fantasy shows were few and far between. So that's saying something.

And I think I found Logan really annoying and creeeeepy.

I think I expected to also, when I went in. He seemed like someone I would like. Yet that never materialized and though it's been years, it seems like maybe he weirded me out. Though I can't say why exactly.
