The most lazy degu

is Charlie.
Seriously, all he does is lying in his favourite spot all day long. Granted, he doesn't have that much space to run around or do things but Lilo doesn't have space either and she at least changes her position from time to time.
And she is doing stuff. She re-arranges her nest, gnaws at the wooden interiour and jumps up and down her stake-out twig.

Charlie, although adult he is very young, appears like an old grandpa who sits in his favourite rocking chair and will only leave it for meals.
I know that he is very quick. Because everytime there is an unusual or loud sound he hides like lightning. Or when I make a sudden move near the cage he's gone in a second.

I hope Lilo will get him to move a bit more. Otherwise he'll just get fat.

Right now he is stick-thin though.
Yesterday I took his hut away and tried to make contact. At first he went all frantic and tried to hide under the old T-shirt. But when I finally could touch him he sat still and let my tickle his neck. He even climbed onto my arm and up to my elbow. So he isn't really afraid just very nervous. As soon as he realizes that he won't get eaten in the same minute he gets curious and explores the situation. But grabbing him will be a whole different story. Most degus don't like being grabbed and lifted. Even those that you can touch and pet don't like it very much. I'll let him be for the time being. I was happy enough that he let me touch him.
