In my last entry, I said I would be "finding my own solutions by pretending that my life is someone else's and give myself advice accordingly". I already recognise that:
- I should avoid talking about people when they are not there.
- I should never try to gain sympathy and approval at the cost of another (ie, Brandon- sorry for those times, Brandon, I was such an soul-ugly idiot at those moments).
I invite everyone to anonymously post their own observations on my areas needing improvement. You don't have to have a livejournal account to post anonymously.
To help get your minds going along more than just a pet peeve, I'm putting the Buddhist ideals up (the Noble Eightfold Path) and the things that increase suffering (the Five Skandhas,& the Ten Kleshas).
The Noble Eightfold Path:
#1 Right Speech - One speaks in a non hurtful, not exaggerated, truthful way.
#2 Right Actions - Wholesome action, avoiding action that would do harm.
#3 Right Livelihood - One's way of livelihood does not harm in any way oneself or others; directly or indirectly.
#4 Right Effort/Exercise - One makes an effort to improve.
#5 Right Mindfulness/Awareness - Mental ability to see things for what they are with clear consciousness.
#6 Right Concentration - Being aware of the present reality within oneself, without any craving or aversion.
#7 Right Thoughts - Change in the pattern of thinking.
#8 Right Understanding - Understanding reality as it is, not just as it appears to be.
The Five Skandhas (Hindrances):
1. Sense craving;
2. Ill-will;
3. Sloth and Torpor;
4, Restlessness and Worry;
5. Toxic doubt and ignorance.
The Ten Kleshas:
(1) greed
(2) hate
(3) delusion
(4) conceit
(5) speculative views
(6) skeptical doubt of truth
(7) mental torpor
(8) restlessness
(9) shamelessness
(10) unconscientiousness
Just remember, change is difficult and takes a long time.
