appreciation
an odd thing that i have noticed about "growing up" is how adults talk to you.
ex-teachers of yours speak to you differently. like you're one of their collegues. they talk to you about other teachers you know-- but you know them differently than they do. it's hard to describe. my old principal from drew came in while i was working and started to tell me how drew wasn't "right" for him.
apparently my old principal was also a bit racist.
but i never would have found that out as a 5th grader.
the relationship between teachers and students, after that relationship is gone, there is this awkward stage you're in. it's kinda neat.
