Easing back into drawing again after some time off. Haven't done a portrait in a while, so here we go. :)

Little Severus is watching his parents fight.

I think that, aside from the Charlie, this is the first time you've done an active expression. The tension of the muscles under the face... you've got a knack for it. The angle is wonderful, the highlights just right, although the line on his nose is a little thick. I especially like his big dark eyes, swimming in the start of tears. He looks so trapped.

I'm pleased that the terror of the situation is reflected in his expression. :) I wanted to give him a mix of worry, fear, and confusion.
Interesting you mention the line of the nose - I'd thought you'd mention the red bit at the tip. :) My quest for perfection has been put on hold for a bit, but I'll keep that in mind for the next one.
The eyes, yes. Severus has the most expressive eyes...he must have been a darling child. Creepy and awkward, but darling. :)

Awww, I do too. He's just so squishable and sweet.

*squishes him*

It's little comfort to him now, but when he's older, he'll have lots of fangirls who'll be showering their affection on him. But for now, he gets kisses, squishes, and hot chocolate. :)

PS - Okay, *where* did you get that Voldemort icon? We wantsss it, precioussss.

Awww. *pats his head* Watching parents fight is very scary for kids. I remember. It wasn't fun. :-P Fortunately, it wasn't terribly often. I like alot. :)

Thank you. :) Severus needs lots of loving pats, for sure.

*joins in the petting*

And good luck tonight with the show. :) I hope the wings stay on, the dress stays un-tripped over, and the men stay hot. :D:D:D

*And I hope you get lots of pictures!*

LOL! Thanks so much! I hope the wings stay on too.

Although I'm sure the men will stay hot. ;) No problem there. Although I don't have my digital camera with me tonight, so I may have to buy a disposable one. The cast party is tonight, so I'd like to get some pictures of that.

He looks properly frightened, that's for sure.

I think children need to see their parents fight 'successfully', i.e. with a solution in the end, because that's a basic lesson in life. But what nobody, child, teenager or grown-up, needs is parents who have an abusive relationship. Ew!

Oh, I think you've got it right in one. :)

Successful fighting - yes. :) I hesitate to say that fighting is acceptable, as yelling and screaming (and possible physical abuse in Snape's case) are terrifying, however the outcome. But successful arguments/spats could be a good learning experience, for sure.
Adult!Severus seems to be woefully behind in handling his basic emotions, and I'm positive the credit must go to at least one of his parents, if not both.

*gathers up up their son and gives him kisses and squishes*

*whispers* Hush, that won't make him a better person. He's far too involved with himself to be able to reflect about what he's actually doing there. :/

But we love him that way.

Snarky, angsty, and self-absorbed.

*kisses him all over*

*innocently*

Oh, this just blows me away, as your work always tends to do. It's beautiful, it truly is. So soft and tender and elegant. My heart is breaking for him.

Aww, thanks so much. :)

My heart was definitely going out to him while working on him, the sweet little thing.

*holds him close*

Congrats on the fringeart challenge, btw. :D
