Ut oh. Now I'm worried that I'm all peer-pressurey! Lol! If it helps, I can *explain* the kind of gore in it--SPOILERY STUFF AHOY...
Imho, it's mainly the "gross out" kind. You see more things involving the "aftermath" of killings/murders, instead of long, drawn-out slasher-flick stuff. Probably the ew-iest scene is when Josh goes with the mysterious man and woman into this underground society of what appears to be vampires, Nosferatus to be more exact (the ickiest vamp-breed of 'em all). After they have a bloody battle, they reach a room full of... well, vampire food. Lots of mangled-up yuck. There's a few jump scares here (duh) but that's the worst of it. *Another* yucky scene comes up later, a Jack the Ripper type of aftermath, and considering the time period this show's based in, there are headlines that read "Is Jack Back?" It shows off a gruesome murder scene but doesn't linger too long.
Then there are a few ew-y scenes in a mortuary, some dissection, etc. But as I said, it's not a torture-porn!violence. Lots of blood and "ick! Gross!" but nothing very icky-for-icky's sake going on.
And just to sell this a bit, lol--cos' I KNOW some of the triggers you have, the female lead is a VERY strong one, and though most of the victims are women, it's not thrown in your face. The other shocking thing? It's Showtime, and you'd figure, "Oh, historical horror, huh? Best get ready, get set, GO with the constant string of boob shots..." but there isn't ONE boob I can remember getting shown off. We get Joshass and even a few full-frontal MALE shots (though, well... nothing all that yummy, there, lol) but the chicks stay clothed. That can get to me sometimes too, because ffs, give us ladies something to look at! So, a sex-scene with Josh being the one taking a nakie-hit, the chick still dressed? Yea, I'll stick around, lol!
And if you like historical horror classics from the era of Bram Stoker, Mary Shelley, Universal monsters, etc., you're in for some really cool, brilliant surprises. Me and Pan knew there'd be a lot of those elements, and one character in particular got our alarms ringing. I won't say who or what--but I'd made a guess as to who someone was, and when the reveal came at the very end, I was right! :)
Seriously not trying to pressure you. But I am. Lol!! I'm so rotten!!
