SOPA and PIPA are only part of the problem. Retracting them was a tactical move, not an admission of defeat. Meanwhile, Megaupload is still under attack. The media industries need to know that their audience can push back.
I think Megaupload was guilty, and they knew well that much of the uploaded content was illegal. I don't condone stealing from the content makers.
I know that more legislation will be introduced. I'm hoping next time it will be much more precise in exactly what it's going to do and what will be allowed.
I sadly agree about megaupload, even if I don't WANT to, lol. At the same time, there are always going to be megauploads and sites of that kind. It may not be right to take content without paying for it, but in this day and age, nothing is safe. I myself have many albums that I didn't pay for, but in most cases, it's due to the lack of release, i.e., I do not feel guilty in the slightest for riffing my copy of 'I Come With the Rain'. If the producers/creators/hell, Josh wants to make money, they have to give me the means to *give* it to them.
