Oh, this is good as ever. I love it when something like a stupid video or song can inspire you to write a story.
There is so much in it. Zeke, what a lonely boy, but he starts to enjoy Casey's friendship (and is already dreaming about more - no wonder, when he has this cute boy so near to him - love, love, love this little scene in the morning) and it's obvious that he envies him a bit for his caring parents. So sad when he says that he would like to have someone around to give him a curfew. And Mrs. Connor is such a great, caring woman not only for her family, also for Zeke.
But her frugality ... sigh ... I'm sure she only does what she thinks is right. But this is a bit too much. It's okay to divert money and to look at the costs, but this has nothing to do with economical thinking. You don't need to live luxury, but it's nothing wrong with it to enjoy life a bit. Like a coffeemaker or butter for dinner, a new dress (even if you don't need it), going out for dinner now and then.
I would say: let them live like they want as long as they both are happy with this. But at least Mr. C. is not. He loves his wife, and instead of telling her that soemthing is going wrong he decides to play along and to have a 'secret life'. But the worst: this is not just about Mr. and Mrs. Connor, it's about Casey.
He is such a good son and he loves his parents. I'm glad that he has at least his games and his computer (the scene with these pervert is priceless) and now Zeke as a friend. But he starts to think too much like his mother does. Zeke is so right. It's about time to stop this.
It seems as if Mr. Connor just needed someone like Zeke by his side to finally stand up and to tell them what he feels. That he wants to enjoy his coffee in the morning and that he likes to spoil his wife and his son now and then. I guess it will take some time before they (Casey and his mom) will be able to understand him. He has waited all too long. But it's a start.
And now, go and write the next part, tell us what Casey is doing with his fifty. I'm sure Zeke will help him to make the best out of it and to have a lot fun. :)
