*sings* I saw the Smurfs, and I li-iked iiit... no really, I did! It helped that we saw it at a drive-in we knew nothing about in the waaaaay sticks of Connecticut that my co-worker's gone to. She was talking about it today as she was going with friends then said, "You should go with us." We never do anything interesting, and I'd had it and said "Yea. Yea, y'know, we're tones gonna."

I was so, so skeptical, but figured, "never been to a drive-in, so the novelty will get us through." But no, it was really cute! It didn't make me weep for the crucifixion of my childhood or anything. Gargamel was probably the best part (they had him make a HUUUUGE reference to LotR; not telling, go see!), though Neil Patrick was great, too. And the drive-in itself was pure, classic Americana. They played 50's music on the radio station they broadcast from before the show, showed super-old ads for the concessions and had this 'American tribute' opening, the food stand was this classic shack... good times. And only $8 per adult for double feature (we only stayed for Smurfs, as Gavs was "ALL DONE"ing at the credits and grabbed the keys from the car to hand to us, lol), $5 for kids... and Thursdays are $16 for carloads, as many people as you can cram. A real treat--SO going again.

A Friday night spent out, DOING something. Who knew?

friday nightz, movies, good ol' days, good day
