Kinda hard morning at Gavs' dentist. The last appointment, he was fantastic--this time? I'm wiped. He's gettin' to be grown, and he really likes dropping like a sack of potatoes when he resists. It took me and the dental assistant to bring him into the room and he STILL kept dropping. I finally had to do a two-armed grab around his waist and sit with him in the chair, one assistant holding his legs down while I used an old restraining-hold from my days at the daycare (never fails; I held a 6'4" 250-pound, well-muscled construction guy in this hold and he couldn't get free, for real, yo) and braced his head against my own and my shoulder so the cleaning could get done. He calmed a little when Dr. Matthews came in to do the final check, as did I. Christ, he gets hotter and hotter every time I see him...
In taking Pan to work, I got to see some of the damage done to the area around the bridge and in the city for the first time. It was pretty dramatic, but it was even MORE shocking going through West Springfield to the dentist. I took a side road, one where the tornado had gone right through. One house was utterly demolished, while all the other buildings were close to demolished, windows out, roofs done for, etc. It's a disaster; the radio stations in the area are holding an event with Big Y, a MA/CT supermarket chain to raise money to help until the 19th. We're gonna try and give SOME-thing if we can. I wouldn't doubt that the torn-up home belonged to the woman who died saving her daughter. She literally threw herself over her when the house collapsed when they were too late reaching the basement. Unbelievable. :(
Anyway... might try to write today. I started a small story yesterday, maybe I'll finish it then work on a WIP or five, who knows. Hope everyone's well. :)
