Worst. Movie. Ever. Adrian Paul looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there for the entire thing. The ONLY thing positive I can say about that movie is one part where a bad guy beheads someone with a cry of, "THERE CAN BE ONLY ME!!!" Yes, I LOLed. But I wouldn't watch that again I don't think if ordered to at gunpoint. Or swordpoint. :-p
(And I actually enjoyed Highlander II, Sean Connery had some Hilarius scenes. I just try to forget it's part of the actual series and watch it for the LOLs...)
I loved the original movie, loved the series. Tried to learn about the entire storyline, the history, until I realized exactly what your quotes about the contradictions talks about. There are so many of them, there IS no real history... Sad, really. The storylines that don't conflict are really great.
Someone made me a mixed tape when I was a teen with one side being the Highlander movie (original) soundtrack. I love "Queen" anyway, and those songs in particular. The other side has greats like "You ain't seen nothing yet", "Walking on Sunshine", and "Freeze Frame". :) Thinking about it, it is the only mixed tape anyone made me. :/ We bonded over "Highlander" first. When he found out I loved it he said we could talk about it any time. :)
I'm glad to learn that you and I have yet another thing in common Grey, "Highlander"! :)
I don't think I ever saw that one (Source), thankfully. ;) The series was so sexy! ;) I freakin' loved it. But then again, I'm a sucker for sexy immortals, whether they are "Highlanders" or Vampires. ;)
The whole "retrocon" type thing annoys me in general, but I'm a fan of Tolkein, Heinlein, and Modesitt...so I'm used to very well thought out story lines. I'm sure you've seen my FB rants about ST:TNG being retroconned after Roddenberry died with things like the cat now being a girl, and Picard being the best friend of Mr. Crusher...when he was just a commander before. Those things annoy me, unless they are totally self-mocking and silly like on "Red Dwarf". :P
