So yeah, at least a foot of snow is coating the Central PA area where I live and work. Did I mention work? Yeah, I'm considered escential hospital personel, and HAVE to be at the hospital, or patients don't get drugs. And they need drugs. So, how many people are going to call out tomorrow morning and make me stay? My guess is at least 2. And while I feel bad, as I know what it's like to drive long distances to work (I used to commute 60+ miles round trip every day), I ALWAYS get into work when it snows. ALWAYS. Give me a headache, that's a different story, but SNOW = GET TO WORK! I wish others felt the same way, so I didn't get stuck with the mandatory overtime bullshit that happens at work.
So, anyway, God taught me a lesson about making snap judgements tonight. I recently had new neighbors move in, and they're very interesting to say the least. Actually, the girl is very nice, but her boyfriend is down-right creepy. And I told my mom just that last night, while we were discussing their noise level (they live above me). Tonight I go out to clean off my car, as per the prior discussion of the amount of snow that has fallen, and realized that there was no way I was going to get it all shoveled out, cleaned off and be ready for work in time. Out come my neighbors, cleaning off the sidewalks, and just pick up and help me clean off and shovel out my car! I felt like a louse. Now I need to bake as a thank you. It's the least I can do, since they were so kind.
I've been experimenting in turning my favorite foods healthy, lately. Last night I made the BEST potato salad ever, and it's low-fat! Paired with some Teryaki chicken and home-made applesauce, it was a pretty darned good, good-for-you meal! I've become a mean cook lately, and baker too! It's nice to live by yourself, you can cook and bake anything you want, it just sucks, because I always have too much food when I'm done. I've been freezing meals for later, and bring dinner in for my co-workers on third shift, but sometimes I feel like I'm wasting food!
Anyway, cross your fingers that I don't get stuck at work, and enjoy the last of the snow. Think, in a few weeks it will be so warm we won't remember what winter is like. I hope.
