songs mean a lot when songs are bought

Today on the CBC Radio 3 webstream:

"Here at CBC Radio 3, we don't dislike Nickelback... we just don't play them!"

CBC Radio 3 is really good, actually, they play music that is 100% Canadian and 100% indie! Yes, those two great tastes that taste great together. I generally listen to the webstream during Media Arts class.

Also, on Monday? Fifteen hours of sleep. So yeah, that's it for all-nighters.

The next album I bought wasn't Black Sheep Boy, it was Slanted and Enchanted because a) the record store didn't have the version of Black Sheep Boy where it's packaged with that lurvely EP, and b) because I had been playing Pavement videos on YouTube during that all-nighter and had "Debris Slide" terribly stuck in my head. Anyways, I bought the "Luxe and Reduxe" version of Slanted, which comes in a box with a sixty-page booklet and a two cd set containing a total of forty-eight songs. These are comprised of the original album and then a ton of extras -- two Peel Sessions, an EP, leftovers from the recording sessions for Slanted and the EP, and a live concert recording. All for 26 dollars, so that's pretty close to fifty cents a track. Take that, iTunes!

I look forward to listening to this album when my cd walkman that I purchased on ebay earlier this week arrives (yes, I am low-tech, and I have been without one for a month, which drives me crazy). Anyways, if I end up liking the album, as I fairly expect I will, I look forward to working my way through Pavement's catalogue -- they're apparently doing the deluxe treatment on all of their albums and including all their b-sides and blah blah blah, which I think is awesome and should be done by all bands.

Fun fact via Wikipedia: apparently Stephen Malkmus was literally high when he chose the singles from Pavement's Wowee Zowee: "I was smoking a lot of grass back then but to me they sounded like hits."

Anyways, there's other stuff (blah blah angst, blah blah white noise in my head) but instead here are some Pavement videos since Pavement takes up a suspicious amount of this entry:

Also, when I put links/videos in entries, does anybody follow/watch them? Just curious.

(I've edited this for stylistic/grammar errors at least twice within five minutes. Damn it i need to go do something else.)
