Useless Variations (Aria with Eight Variations) by blue

I don't know how I should be feeling after reading this. The thing about Variation fics (or whatever they're actually called), is that the author has the power to give you fluff and then slap you with darkfic as soon as you get comfortable. I feel distraught, then I feel like I'm floating on a cloud. blue messes with you, but you have to love it anyway. (And Variation Seven kills. Which of course, makes me love it even more.)

Summary: After the war, Remus tells the wizarding world to sod off and goes to live as a Muggle, and three years later, Severus comes looking for him, wanting to know how to do the same thing.
Quote: They glared and huffed at each other for a moment before Remus leaned over and hit the forward button, taking them back to the porn. Severus examined the page closely while Remus focused his attention on the curtains and noted that he should vacuum them soon, as they were looking dusty.
McKay cracks me up even more with this one. Snape encountering everyday Muggle things has to be one of the most hilarious things I have ever read. This is one of those fics that makes you throw back your head and laugh and laugh. And laugh some more. I adore it.

Summary: The chill of winter can enter the bones, and the heart.
Quote: Such was life at Misselthwaite that winter. They were all playactors, all repeating the same role night after night, while the winds blew harder and harder. The next day Ben Weatherstaff would gather up the fallen branches and cut them up for firewood. And the next night, the three young people (for they were not exactly children any longer) would warm themselves by it and banter, trying to keep the cold away from their hearts.
This is so real. One of those fics that's so believable, it borders on canon.

Excellent. And hilarious. Lex absolutely cracks me up (a lot of things have done that today, it would seem). Picking a quote was very difficult.
