So tonight, I kinda decided to start attending the anime club at school. This is mostly because I have friends in this club, one of which I knew from work and rarely get to see. After Portuguese (which I will rant about later), I met up with this person that I knew from Disneyland, and we sat and caught up for about an hour to an hour and a half. Then she invited me to the club's weekly get-together at In-N-Out, and since I my other friend couldn't hang out due to lack of sleep, I agreed.

What ensued was absolute hilarity, which included me altering that famous line "Surprise! Buttsex!" to "Surprise! Sodomize!" So yes, that was fun.

There is nothing wrong with our teacher save for the fact that she does go a little fast for me. However, there is so much wrong with the book and the handling of the Portuguese classes. First of all, Portuguese is a subdepartment of the Spanish department, which while making some sense, reduces the amount of attention that the language receives.

Essentially, we've been given a mostly useless textbook. Why is it mostly useless? About the only things that we can use it for are vocabulary reference and exercises. It's poorly organized to the point of confusion, and our teacher only uses it as a supplement to her lectures. The reason why it's poorly organized is because it is supposed to be taught alongside an accompanying video; however, the video is so out-of-date, it isn't even funny. Even though the book is nearly useless, our teacher can't do anything about it because she isn't in charge of choosing the book. She would really prefer not to, but her hands are tied.

This leads me to my true frustration with the class. I'm not quite sure if I'm really getting it, especially the pronounciation. I feel so far behind some of the other students despite the fact that I score well on the quizzes/tests. The reason that I say this is because we were supposed to be doing skits tonight involving a restaurant, and I could only form some of the sentences for my possible lines because of what I knew from Spanish. That's one thing that I don't like. I feel like a lot of the time I'm going from English to Spanish to Portuguese.

It's just...ARG. I'm going to have to meet with my teacher soon, I think.

haha disneyland sucks, surprise sodomize, portuguese, anime club
