Fuck. Same friend that told me I'm "lucky" to be gay told me that "If you're coming to America, you need to learn English." And I argued against that statement. She also had the audacity to say that since we live in California, we live in a "ghetto." A white, middle-class woman who has lived in the same house in the suburbs for most, if not all, her life called California "ghetto." What the shit? Thank god I was at least somewhat diplomatic. I did tell her she was being a bigot, which allowed her to focus the argument on how I was hurting her with my labels. Sigh.
I need a drink. Or maybe to distance myself a little. Too bad I decided to schedule my classes to be with her most of the time.
