The one major difference between how Liverpool played and how Singapore played is the players of the former team play as a unit. They hold the ball for as long as they can, and then they pass it to someone available. They pass the ball aiming for a particular person. The Singapore team played as disparate individuals. They didn't hold the ball for long, almost immediately passed it as soon as it came into possession, and half the time they just kick the ball hoping someone in red would catch up with it. It wasn't nice to watch. Also I felt that the Singapore players were too caught up in their respective roles on the pitch. I remember one part where one of the defenders, No. 3, got the ball and managed to get a clear passage almost all the way to the penalty box, but then he hesitated, as if he remembered, "eh! I'm not a striker, I'm a defender!" and he passed the ball to a striker, and the striker missed.
They need to play with world class teams and subsequently learn from their mistakes if they're ever going to be a world class team themselves.
