Meet The LIttle Dragon! (I Can Has Pixiu! :D)
So, this guy will be the last resin brat I get for a good while. I managed to find a couple of Pixius in stock at DDE, so I got the one grey one (without a faceup) they had. I figured that there was not much reason to not do it while I had a little money to spare and the chance to get him without a three month wait. I've named him Niall, and he is going to be a little storm dragon. I won't bore you with the box opening photos (because they're not actually particularly exciting), but here is one shot of what he looked like when he arrived, and a couple of the blushing/painting I did. I wen with black and dark grey colouring since he's grey resin, and I don't think he turned out too badly. I need to pick up a can of testors so I can touch up a couple of spots, but other than that, he's done. I have no idea what, if anything, he will be wearing. I may make a kilt for him, but I don't know if I'm up to making one even smaller than Declan's.
Niall upon arrival:
I spent a few minutes playing with him, and then got down to the business of getting him painted.
During painting. I did the layers of speckling with black watercolour paint, so I had to let it dry before I could seal and go over it with pastel. I forgot to get a photo of the hands, feet, wings, tail, and head as I was doing those. This is one for that "photos to make non bjd owners scratch their heads" thread on DoA. He was covered in wet paint, so I had to hang him *somewhere* to dry. This was the nearest available spot. XD
Finished. There's a little more flash than I wanted here, so he's slightly washed out, but it gives a fairly accurate look at what the blushing looks like. I didn't really think about it until I took this, but his colouring sort of makes him look like a gargoyle.
Closeup of feet and hands, and one of his face. I made those horns out of sculpey and puttied them on his head. Couldn't have a dragon without horns.
Finally, a comparison shot with Declan. Niall is roughly the same height, but proportionally smaller all over except for his hands and, obviously, his feet.
