A Model Citizen (*CONTAINS SPOILERS*)

Just wanted to respond briefly to one of the questions in the spoiler-free post, but my answer contained spoilers for future seasons:
What do you think of the way the men in the art gallery check out Bayliss as he's leaving with Emma?
I think it's interesting. Like so many of the moments pre-Season Six, when the writers presumably had no thoughts yet of making Bayliss bi - and yet the issue just seems to come up as regards him. Obviously, he's not the one here doing the checking out.... but at the same time, I do think it's interesting that *he* is the one shown as the object of gay desire. It could have been any of the other male detectives, but it isn't. It's Bayliss. In fact, I can't think of a moment when any of the other male detectives gets checked out by a man.... unless it's Pembleton with Bayliss in the gay bar in Season Six, and that episode only came about because of the Bayliss-goes-bi arc.
Some viewers apparently found that development hard to swallow - but to me, it's amazing how much it seems prepared for. I guess Kyle Secor must have been consciously or subconsciously aware of these recurring strains as regarded his character, and that helped put it in his mind to suggest to Fontana that Bayliss could be bi. But you have to wonder if the writers somehow had some sort of subconscious idea about it, as well, pre-Season Six.
