[A "favor", huh? Well with those spotlights going strong and the sounds of battle preparation being heard all too clearly from inside the fort, it's not hard for Anathema to figure out just what that favor entails, and as much sympathy as she has for him and the rest of the clan she doesn't want to fight.]

[But even while she keeps to the edge of the trees, she also doesn't know just how much longer she can ignore the instincts itching at the back of her mind, and the pull of the moon on top of them.]

[OH HI LET'S MAKE THIS TERRIBLE AND AWKWARD. It was really just a random decision to take this particular path, scouting the area, with an unfamiliar, overwhelming predatory instinct clouding his mind. But then, he saw an unfamiliar shape in the dark, and stops. For a moment, he had to fight down the overpowering thirst, but he was successful - at least temporarily.]

[Curiously and silently, he approached the - girl. He wondered if she was a scout herself, for which faction, and... one of his new comrades, perhaps? If so, perhaps she had information that could be extracted from her.]

[SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. And it wasn't very long before Anathema noticed that she'd acquired company; the smell of the dead was still overwhelming to her new sense of smell.]

[Later she could congratulate herself for not jumping out of her skin with that realization. She stayed calm, or at least did an admirable job of looking it, and spared a brief glance into the dark.] You may as well come out where I can see you.

[Caught. Of course, it had to go that way. Zhou Yu followed the invitation, stepping out of the shadow slowly, head held high, looking right at the girl. She seemed... human. But what was she doing out here, then? And that question was hint enough that he maintained a certain distance, mentally preparing himself to strike. But her voice was so familiar.]

What are you doing out here?

[And it was his voice that actually had Anathema turn her full attention to him. She knew she recognized it, but her racing thoughts didn't leave enough room in her mind to pin it down. She did, however, take just a few tentative steps back as he approached, watched him warily even as he kept distance himself.]

Staying the hell out of what's going on out there. If you haven't noticed, they're firing at practically whatever moves.

[The thirst for blood was almost overwhelming, even though there was something decisively off about this girl. He knew that voice, it wouldn't let him go, but the burning thirst made it hard to think. It was a battle to just keep up a civil appearance, and not just jump at the girl's throat and suck her dry. Even new to this state of "life", the understanding of what he had to do came as an instinct.]

Then you best leave here, quickly. It's not safer out here.

But tell me - have we met before?

It's safe enough. [Because leaving meant moonlight and moonlight meant losing what little of herself she still had. Plus, she'd get shot at. And she really did hate being shot at.]

[But the question did turn caution into curiosity.] It's possible. Are you from the caravan?

I... yes. Yes, I am.

[There was some obvious hesitation in that reply, but he took a closer look at her now. She wasn't anyone he could recognise, but there was something familiar about her, about her voice. She was a young girl, foreign-looking (of course) and therefore still an unfamiliar sight for him, but pretty, and somehow seemingly a lot more mature than her apparent age would indicate-]

[He had to tear his gaze away from her throat. And eventually, he remembered where he had heard her voice.]

I believe we spoke on the network. I am Zhou Yu.

[Oh, if that didn't get her attention. She even took a couple of steps closer-- for all the advantages the werewolf thing gave them, her ability to see through the dark was still sorely lacking.]

You....yes, that's right! I'm Anathema Device. [For all her enthusiasm, her heart sank. He'd been turned. She could smell his death on him clear as anything....] What are you doing out here? You said yourself it's not exactly the safest place.

[He frowned when she stepped closer, and instinctively took a step back. He could smell her, and could imagine the taste of her blood. It was almost overpowering at this point, and with every step she came closer, he felt his control slipping little by little.]

Don't come any closer!

[She stopped short. Every part of her was screaming to fight, to run, anything that wasn't just standing there like an idiot. And it wasn't only the wolf in her that was doing so.]

[But she had to help.] You need to get out of here. And avoid the lights.

[It was a good thing the girl stopped. Teeth clenched and exposed in a snarl he could not hold back, driven half mad by the promise of blood, he couldn't help but take a step forward himself, and he was rapidly beginning to lose the fight for his self-control.]

[....oh. That look was far from reassuring, and for half a beat she almost snarled back, tried to make herself seem bigger, nastier (which would have been quite a feat in itself; Zhou Yu definitely had the height advantage on her there), but she got as far as an inhuman warning growl before she managed to swallow it down and retreat back the steps she came.]

And the wolves as well. Just to....be on the safe side.
