To say that Shirley was surprised was an understatement. An extreme one, because she was so surprised that when she woke up in a strange room that looked nothing like anything she could recall in her muddled memories, she actually gave a yell in surprise and sat up so quickly that she lost her balance and, when she tried to catch herself on the bed, her hands hit air and the girl ended up ungracefully toppling off of the bed and onto the wooden floor.
Thus began Shirley's first day at Sleepywoods, painfully untangling herself from the sheets as she wondered where she was. How she got here. She was... I was speaking to Rolo, wasn't I? For a moment, the girl feared that once again, her memories had been tampered with once again. Of course, some rational part of her argued that she shouldn't have been able to think about that if her memories actually were toyed with, but it seemed like a good explanation for why she was unable to remember how she got here. Was it... did ( ... )

"I'm... I'm sorry, I don't know," was all she could tell the poor man. He certainly looked more calm than she did, so maybe he did have some idea of what he was doing. It reminded her of a certain someone whom she had to find, so it was enough to calm the girl's nerves as she swallowed, trying to think of something else to say. Or do. She couldn't just stand here, right?
"Um... Have you seen someone? He's a boy around my age, with black hair, kind of cut like this," Shirley used her free hand to demonstrate how Lelouch's hair is cut. "His name is Lelouch, and... I need to find him!"

When asked about the whereabouts of her acquaintance, along with being given a poor visual aid, the Nordic answered simply.
"I've not. You're the first." He briefly weighed the idea of reflecting her question, but instead opted for a more practical one.
"Have you some sort of communicator?"
