Yuusei hasn't really been in the mood to eat at all, really, a sickening pit forming in his stomach the more he realizes just how stuck he is here. After quite a bit of wandering around, asking about just how and where and why, he's found a nice wall to lean himself up against and shut his eyes. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the device... the Junogam was it? Flipping it open, he contemplates using it, but decides to save that for a time when he isn't numb with confusion.

Abruptly, he heard a soft sniffing sound and glanced downwards, noting at first glimpse a white wolf, nose to the ground, seeming to be inspecting the area. It isn't until he does a double take and he notices the red markings surging along her white coat that he raises a brow. That's... incredibly odd. What makes it stranger is the object it appeared to be carrying on its back, as if with some noble purpose.

The mark against his right arm aches a bit and pulses, and he slides the Junogam in his pocket once more, rubbing the stinging mark. There was definitely something odd about that wolf.

Unfortunately for her, Amaterasu had no sense of who could see her true form and who couldn't. So when she looked up at Yuusei, all she saw was another one of those people playing with the weird devices. But instead of tapping away at it or speaking into it, he put it away.

She tilted her head and watched him. That was unusual behavior for the people she's met recently. Was something different about him? On second look, he didn't seem to be feeling so well. She barked quietly and sat, her tail wagging back and forth slightly. Maybe she could help; there hadn't been a lot of people asking her for help here, but maybe this time would be different.

He raised a brow as he noticed the wolf looking at him with its head cocked just a bit. The sight threw him into a slight bit of awe... the markings were oddly entrancing. The only dogs he'd ever had contact with had been The Satellite's strays, and yet this wolf seemed much tamer compared to them. Taking off his glove on his left hand, he lowered it and offered his hand out, as one would do with most dogs.

He hummed a bit in the meanwhile, less concerned with whether or not the wolf might bite his open hand and busying himself with wondering if it was a boy or a girl...

Ammy watched him, still concerned. When he lowered his hand, she sniffed it in greeting before bumping her head into it. Some people found petting animals to be soothing; she was pretty sure that was one of the reasons Kushi always made sure to give her a quick scratch at least. And if Amaterasu found it just as nice as any other dog might, well... she was just being good to people, wasn't she?

Ammy wore no collar or identification of any sort. However, depending on how well Yuusei knew canine anatomy, her sitting position should reveal her lack of boy parts. Please do not try to check under her tail to confirm. She wouldn't like that.

Settling his hand behind the wolf's head, he scratched softly behind its ears, taking a few moments of contemplation and observation to come to the somewhat hesitant conclusion that this one was female. Her fur was soft against his bare hand, and he couldn't help but smile just a bit and move his hand down a bit to scratch softly at the side of her neck.

"Wonder if you were dropped here like the rest of us..." he said quietly. "You're certainly quite a sight. Never seen a creature like you before..."

Amaterasu was almost starting to believe that this whole place was a dream, fueled by festival cakes and fireworks - there were so many people who were willing to stop and pet her! She was happily just enjoying the attention, tail wagging slightly, when she heard his question.

Though she didn't pull away, her tail stilled and she opened her eyes to look up at him. "A creature like you..." he had said. She could believe that people had never seen wolves, but surely everyone knew what a dog was. Did that mean that he could see her real form? She yipped an affirmation to his first question - by this point she figured it was 50-50 if people understood her replies - and only then pulled away, trotting a small circle and returning to see how he would react. If he saw the trail of grass and flowers that followed her, he could see her. Otherwise, it had been just an idle comment.

The flourishing verdant grass coming from beneath her paws within the small circle she'd pranced about gracefully in caused his eyes to widen slightly. Definitely not an ordinary wolf, and he brings himself to crouch down a bit back on his heels and observing the way the flowers unfurled from the ground with her steps. Letting out a low whistle in amazement, he couldn't help but smile a bit.

"Well that's some trick," he said, the throbbing in his arm slowing down to something barely-there. Perhaps it had been the initial shock of the wolf's presence that had brought his mark to sting in earnest. It made him wonder just what sort of supernatural connection she had...

Well, that certainly solved that question. He could see her, even if he didn't seem to recognize who she was. But she wasn't going to worry about specifics - it was reassuring just to know that people could see her. She'd discovered that her powers still worked, even if she was weaker than before, but every bit of normalcy - of knowing that this place wasn't that different from home - was a good sign to her. It was like that poor England kid, wanting to be back on the soil that they protected.

She smiled at his quiet praise, letting it warm her, and then turned her attention back to Yuusei himself, delicately extending her nose and sniffing at him as politely as she could. She was curious.

Yuusei chuckled a bit, staying stone still as she sniffed at him. He was well aware that he smelled like poverty (probably,) like broken down buildings and ashes and fire and dirt--the destruction the Dark Signers left after dueling always sent a shudder running down his spine. He probably bore the scent of sweat and fear mingling with oil and exhaust from his work as a mechanic. Not in the least bit pleasant and he was sure the wolf would probably be reeling, if not running far and fast.

He was sure in the back of his mind that dogs probably smelled better than he did at that particular point in time.

Amaterasu breathed in all of this, her nose twitching at the oil and exhaust - such foreign smells that she didn't know what to make of them. It was slightly overwhelming, painting a picture in her mind of a village, broken and shattered, plagued by a demon they could not destroy. She whined softly, shifting her weight in agitation. Sitting here was less appealing when she was reminded of all the things that she could fix if given the chance. Even if this wasn't on her land and wasn't part of her responsibility.

Amaterasu for her part wasn't entirely scent-friendly either. She'd been forced or fallen into water several times, but had successfully avoided soap. She smelled mostly of sake and cherry cake, but even those scents couldn't cover up deep earth and the sharpness of demons.

With a withering smile on his lips at the slight whine, he gingerly stroked her head, the smell of wet dog was the least of his discomforts. "If only dogs could talk..." The patting was sending all kinds of soothing through his uneasy mind as he rubbed her ears softly until his stomach let out a soft growl, demanding to be fed sometime within the next century or so. Yuusei grimaced and looked at the wolf with a light smile--he couldn't keep ignoring his hunger forever, despite his discomfort.

"Should probably find something to eat. What do you say? You hungry too?"

As he took comfort from petting her, so she took comfort from being petted. It was just one more thing to add to the list of current impossibilities.

Lunch, however, was decidedly not on that list. She looked up at him in amusement upon hearing his stomach, but she was definitely hungry too. She yipped a soft agreement, then put her nose back to the ground and continued following that scent that smelled of fruit and other food. It led her down the streets, towards District 2.

Getting up, Yuusei slid his glove back on, following her with a bemused smile upon his face as they began to make their way into what was labeled as District 2. There are a few vendors lined up in the streets, and Yuusei's stomach clenches just a bit more. He's curious as to what the currency here is, and whether or not there's the possibility of haggling down a price from whatever is left in his pockets--or maybe even scoring something for free.

"Guess we'll just have to try our luck here," he murmurs as he walks up to one of the stands that has some fruit.

Luck was apparently with them, as Amaterasu trotted after him to the stand. The vendor offered them each a piece of fruit, while Amaterasu nodded her thanks and took it carefully from him.

It was about this time that she realized that she didn't have any money on her, nor demon fangs, nor pieces of treasure. She wasn't sure if the shops here took vases in exchange for fruit, but it would have at least been something.

But the woman swept her hand over the display, telling them that they could have anything they wanted, free of charge. Amaterasu was already munching happily on the fruit - it certainly didn't smell or taste odd - so for right now she wasn't going to question that.

The concept of "free" was very foreign to Yuusei throughout his life so when the vendor offered them fruit as well as informing them of the free of charge bit, he was somewhat stunned, though he kept to his one piece, giving her a nod and grateful smile, pocketing an apple in his jacket for later or just in case of emergency (because one never knew if and when they'd run into someone in need of food.)

Still, he was somewhat hesitant to bite into the apple, eying with a scrutinizing gaze before taking a very tentative bite into it and finding a shiver working its way through his body as he chewed on a small mouthful and swallowed, kind of gaping at it for a moment and then looking down at the wolf with a light smile. She seemed to be enjoying rather nicely as well.

Amaterasu devoured her piece of fruit quickly, being very thorough about getting every single bite that she could until she was left only with the core. Politely she picked it up in her teeth and deposited in what she figured (and what was thankfully) a trash bin before returning to sit at the shopkeeper's feet and stare up at her with a pleading expression.

Laughing, the woman gave Amaterasu a peach, and Ammy went through the same routine - quickly consuming it and disposing of the core. This time she sat next to Yuusei, sighing quietly in content and licking her jaws repeatedly to try and clean off the juice. She looked up at him; she felt better, did he feel better?
