Setting/Location: Level 2 hallway
Date & Time: Day Five, just after the crossing
Summary: All she wanted was a late night snack. Instead the caravan floods, and Amaterasu hates water.
Amaterasu crept down the stairs. She'd finally recovered from all the energy spent at the festival, though sleeping for most of the next day had helped with that. Once she was on the second floor, she trotted happily over to the kitchen; this kitchen had treated her well, and any other people looking for a bite to eat would probably go to the one on the fourth level, since it was closer to the rooms.
Her ears swiveled back against her head as the bell rang for the second time in the hour; the noise hurt her ears, though she appreciated what it was for. She'd just entered the kitchen when the caravan began to shake violently. Amaterasu's nails scrabbled against the floor, but she slid back and forth despite her best efforts. The pots and pans once again came crashing down with a loud clamor, and Amaterasu spared a thought of not my fault this time, I do not want to pick them all up again before a bit of water washed over her paws.
Water?
A high pitched bark of surprise was all she had time for before a great swell of water crashed through the doorway, filling the room as she paddled madly toward the surface. Her head broke into air as she took a deep breath before getting pulled back under. Focus! She lashed out with her power, creating several large lily pads - the next time she got to the surface she desperately clung to one, only able to hang on with her front legs as the water threatened to drag her back down.
The water stilled for one second, and she climbed on top, shaking herself vigorously. She hated water and being wet. What in the world had happened?
And just as suddenly, the water lilies pitched and spun as water rushed back out. Carried by the current, Amaterasu had no choice but to duck and make herself as small as possible - though the wall was coming up awfully fast.
She slammed into the wall with a loud yelp of pain as the water lily dragged itself down the vortex that was the stairs to the first floor, and Amaterasu got plunged back into the water, now shallow enough that she could stand, though putting weight on her front right leg hurt like hell. But it was still better than getting sucked away by the water.
But when the caravan tilted, of all things, she couldn't properly brace her self, tumbling down and sliding a bit down the hallway before the world resettled around her. Amaterasu laid there, whimpering softly and licking at her paw. The first time she came to the kitchen she'd thought about how it was close to the medic's office...but how badly had that room been damaged by the flood? Maybe if she got one of her bones, it would help...but they were several flights above her, in her room.
Looked like she'd have to wait for now.
