Characters: Hellboy and YOU!
Setting/Location: Outside the Caravan, near the river.
Date & Time: Day 4, early afternoon.
Warnings: None.
Summary: Hellboy takes a stroll.

It'd been a while since Hellboy had spent any length of time around a large group of people (at least, people who were currently alive). He wasn't used to it. The whole Caravan was full of someone else's noise and someone else's smells. Laughter and frying onions and the sound of feet hitting wooden floors. Nowhere for a man (or a half-man half-demon) to go and be alone with his thoughts.

So Hellboy had been almost relieved when he'd woken to find the Caravan stopped, apparantly for the forseeable future. He'd grabbed his coat and, after a few seconds of internal debate, his belt and holster, then headed out.

Turned out the countryside wasn't all that different to what Hellboy was used to, just on a larger scale. He walked until he found a large grassy hill ringed by a copse of trees, far enough from the Caravan to get a sense of freedom but close enough that he'd be able to get back if Grandore decided to haul that giant ass of his across the river.

Setting himself down on a large boulder, Hellboy lit the cigar between his lips, cupping the flame behind his stone hand. He gazed out at the strange-but-familiar landscape as he shook out the match, the strong breeze snapping at the edges of his coat and tugging threads of smoke from his lips. The sun was striking sparks on the surface of the river, and all around was trees and grassland and small herds of weird-looking antelope. It was quiet, and wild, and more than a little beautiful.

"Could be worse," Hellboy muttered to himself, absently touching the rosary which hung from his belt. "Yeah. Could be worse."
