Since the Caravan didn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, Sumire had decided to wander outside and check out the surrounding nature to get a better idea of where she was. She figured she would be safe as long as she kept the Caravan in view.

Toying with the golden bracelet she had on her wrist, she spotted a girl in the river. The girl didn't look familiar, although she appeared close in age to Sumire, and as Sumire stepped closer to the river, she overheard the girl say something about a swimsuit. "Um, I don't think the river's safe for swimming in," Sumire called out to her.

She honestly wasn't expecting to hear another person out here, since the Cid guy who was running the Caravan has said that they weren't supposed to leave it. She didn't think anyone would actually bother to ignore his orders since he could probably kick them out. Or something like that. Hell if she knew.

Well, there she is, actually hearing someone calling out to her which shocks her into nearly face-vaulting into the water until she uses the momentum to spin herself around. Tomo puts her hands on her hips and frowns before leaning forwards slightly and cupping the same hands around her mouth. "Well I know that! I'd probably stick to the shallows anyway!"

It wouldn't have been the first rule Sumire had broken - that would had been the rule to give up weapons to the storage room - but considering the Caravan was currently stopped, she saw no reason not to get a little fresh air.

Sumire walked a little closer to the river, although since she didn't want to take off her sandals or thigh-high socks, she didn't get into the water. She leaned forward to get a better look at the water, and she replied, "Oh. Have you seen anything weird in the water yet?"

If there's one thing Tomo is noticing, it's the other girl's reluctance to get into the river. Then she asks that question and Tomo snickers a bit, thinking she might be creeped out by whatever is in the water. She waves a hand at the girl on the shore casually. "The only thing in here are bugs and some fish. They're sooo tiny, but I think a bigger one is trying to eat my toe."

She sloshes her way over to Shore-girl and stops when the water is only pooling around her feet. She squelches her toes into the riverbed and grimaces before taking them about again, and dunking her feet back into the water. The motion splashes a small around of water around. "What's the matter? Are you afraid something's in there?"

"That's not quite what I meant," Sumire said, willing her face not to become red. Truth be told, she really didn't want to get in the water, especially if she didn't know what was in it, and her socks weren't easily quickly taken off and put back on.

Even so, she crouched down a little and dunked her fingers into the water. It was cooler than she expected, and the tiny fish just seemed to swim around her hand. "I just wanted to know if the fish in the river were familiar."

Tomo can see where she's coming from with that, especially with the kind of stocking Yomi used to wear with their uniforms back home. She just likes to tease and taunt people. It's one of the things she does, aside from annoying the hell out of them.

The latest statement from Shore-girl leave Tomo a bit awkward. On one hand, she doesn't want to seem stupid. On the other, She honestly doesn't know the first thing about fish. "Well," She mutters, "they look the same as any fish I've seen. I don't know, I can't tell the difference."

Sumire didn't know much about fish either, so she didn't know if the fish here were the same species common back in her own world. "Neither can I, but they look the same, anyway. None of them have three eyes or anything like that."

She straightened her back and turned to face the other girl. "My name's Sumire Takahana, by the way," she introduced herself.

"What would they even need three eyes for? Where would they put it? What if the insides are different?" Tomo doesn't mind tossing questions at her in a barrage until she introduces herself. She isn't be surprised that Shore-girl has a name at all.

She jabs her thumb into her chest, "I'm Tomo Takino! Good to meet'cha!" After her short intro, she immediately sticks her hand out, expecting a handshake.

"Um, yes, nice to meet you too," Sumire replied, accepting Tomo's hand. The amount of energy Tomo had kind of surprised her, and the only question that stuck in her mind was the last one. She glanced back at one of the fish, which was blank-eyed as the rest of them.

"Do you really want to dissect one to find out?" she asked. While that probably was a good idea, the idea of cutting one open didn't exactly fill Sumire with excitement.

Tomo is silent for a total of five seconds, which really is a record for her, before moving right on to continue the line of conversation. "I don't think I'd wanna be stuck with that job. Maybe we could find someone else to do that. I don't want to have to cut anything open," she cringes at the thought of it squirming. "It's just creepy."

"Yeah, I wouldn't want too either." She bent over again and ran her fingers over a nearby plant. Most of the plants she had seen so far looked familiar enough, although the thought of some of them being poisonous suddenly crossed her mind... "What about the plants? If there's a botanist on the Caravan, they might be able to learn something from the plants."

"Botanist?" Tomo knows nothing about those kinds of professions so all Sumire gets in return is a blank stare. "I don't think we could learn anything useful. I mean, they're plants." For emphasis, she flicks at a leaf. It waves itself at her in a seemingly accusatory manner.

"It might be good to know which ones are poisonous and which ones are edible." Of course, being a city girl, Sumire didn't know much about plants beyond which ones were good for display, and being in such a strange place only reminded her of how little she knew.

"Edible? I wouldn't eat anything I find in this place. Besides, I thought there was food on the caravan." After all, for the last few days that's all Tomo has been doing for food, scavenging around the Caravan. Sometimes the kitchens have stuff that barely qualifies as food, other times it's people who have lest their rooms open. Either way it's better than going hungry.

"There is, but in case we run out, it'd be good to know where to find some." Sumire wondered if that was a pessimistic way of thinking, but considering how little faith she had in the planning skills of the leader, she thought some alternative plans would be a decent idea.

"Some food you mean. But we could just go to the next village and buy it there or something." She states plainly. Planning has never been Tomo's strong sit, so she either goes with the obvious or the ridiculous. She doesn't have any trust in the Way Warrant, mostly because he seems a little too polite.
