Amaterasu's tail came up and wagged, but that was neither aerodynamic nor very good for her balance, so it only lasted a moment. She could toss the man onto her back and return to the caravan, but they weren't too far behind yet. If they actually seemed in danger of losing track of the caravan she'd rescue him, but until then, if he missed the caravan, he could deal with the consequences long enough to remember to actually board next time.

She could smell Beyond, but Amaterasu could also smell a bunch of other people on the caravan, plus the giant, and the large amount of dust wasn't helping either. Maybe if she notices that his smell stays steady and strong she'll look around for him, but that will take a little bit of time. She's focused on the man next to her who smells delicious, minus the tang of metal and something else she can't identify.

In answer to Vash's question, Amaterasu puts her head down and speeds up, allowing herself to pull a few feet ahead of Vash before slowing back to return to his side. She can certainly catch up! She's sure he can too; just put a little oomph into it!

Neither the man nor the ... was it a dog? It looked very canine, the animal, and even wagged its tail momentarily, so it must be if not a dog, something quite close. Neither seemed to notice him, which was fine by him; he continued watching, leaning back against the caravan and resolving that if either of them got close enough for him to pull up, he would. Focusing on making allies was what he should be doing now, he figured.

Vash smiled in response to Ammy's tail wagging and speed. That was a good sign at least! She obviously believed in him...or herself at least.

"All right, let's do it my little canine companion!" He shouted with a smile and a thumbs up as his speed went to match that of what Ammy was going at just moments ago.

They were getting pretty close now.

Amaterasu barked and then put her head down, her ears back against her head as she concentrated on getting her speed up to match Vash's. Maybe she wouldn't have to carry him back herself; she liked that, enjoyed the challenge of trying to catch up with the caravan, even if she'd put herself in this position in the first place.

She wasn't sure how she felt about being called his "little canine companion" but somehow now didn't seem like the time for introductions.
