[A young boy steps out of the inn to look around, head tilted up, turning left and right at the surrounding area. Still staring at the skyline of the village, he starts walking backwards. Not realizing he was near a corner, his back bumps into a firm figure and loses his balance, wobbling a bit before turning around.]

Whoa! Huh?!

[STARES AT]

Oi. Watch where you're going.

[He scratches the back of his head sheeply and gives the really tall blonde man an embarrassed smile.]

Sorry about that! I guess I'm still kinda confused.
Hey, are you from here? That Cid guy says we gotta find some witch lady to help us go home. How do we do that?

. . . Cid guy?

Er, yeah... Some guy named Cid, uh, Almond or something... He left me a message that I'm stuck here until I can find some witch far away to send me home. Sounds like he runs the place?

[Guess who has not bothered to read his junogam yet]

Huh. So he knows how to get of this place. He tell you what we're doing here?

[Jack folds his arms and thinks for a second.]

He says it's not his fault or anything how we got here, but I don't think he gave a reason... So this means you're not from here either, huh? I guess we're in the same boat! Er, town! My name's Jack by the way, Jack Russell! Who're you?

[verydangerman]

...It's Heiwajima Shizuo. Nice to meet you.

[Is pretty much in exactly the same stance as when you ran into him. Hands in his pockets, staring mildly down at you.]

So it's not his fault, but he wants to help us get back?

[Jack could barely catch 'Heywajeema Sheezuooh' as his face scrunched in confusion. He figured trying to remember it would be impossible let alone repeating it properly, so something less sensible came out of his mouth instead.]

Whoa, that's a weird name. Hey, is there something shorter I can use? Like 'Mr. Hey' or 'Mr. Sheez'? I don't think I can say the whole 'Heywajeem'-part.
And it sounds like that Cid guy just wants to travel. I guess it's kinda fun!

You can manage Shizuo, can't you?

Jack felt much better hearing just three syllables instead of a garble of... 'seven' he had to think it over for a second. He gave himself a triumphant grin as he sounded it out once more, "Sheezuoh! Got it!"

His arms went back to his side as looked confused again. "So... how long have you been here? You don't know any place to get work, do you? I'm not sure how long I'll be around, but it can't hurt to get some good work done!"

[to be perfectly fair, whenever Shizuo gets around to using Jack's name, it will probably come out like 'Jaaku'. Anyway, he's used to Simon, and doesn't seem to mind the slightly garbled pronunciation of his name.]

What for? That guy said he'd be getting us out of here.

"Yeah, but I dunno how long it's gonna take. I think I'm gonna get bored," he whined, throwing both hands behind his head. "Might as well see what I can do." His grin returned. "I bet the guys back home would say the same thing. Hey, what's your job before you got here?"

The kid must have a lot of energy to blow off.

"Bodyguard, I guess."

Shizuo shuffles a cigarette out of a pack.

"And don't say 'before' like that. It'll still be my job when we get back."

Jack's eyes widened at the 'bodyguard' comment. According to what he knew, when you bodyguard somebody, you have to be really strong; enough to defend yourself and somebody else. Not just that, the person you bodyguard is probably important, maybe like royalty. Jack continued staring a few seconds more, developing a completely new perspective of this strange, tall man wearing what looks like a very impractical set of clothing to fight in. No armor, no weapons in sight... What a confident person!

"Whoa, that's awesome! You must be pretty strong, huh!? Hey! Once I figure out where to work, can we practice sometime?! I gotta see how you fight, Sheezuoh!" The boy had such a optimistic look of expectation, if he had a tail, it would be lively wagging.

"Practice?"

The kid was clearly working himself up about something. Well, it wasn't like no one had ever wanted to test their strength against him before. It was annoying.
