Iris certainly felt out of place; her earlier encounter with Mr. Edgeworth - who had apparently not recognized her - left her feeling off balance and hesitant. Her shrine clothes made her feel even more out of place. There were people who were more outlandishly dressed than she was, but plenty of people in what she considered more "normal" clothes.

That, however, was easily fixable. She had gone down to the stores, intending to barter service for clothes, but the storekeepers had simply given her the clothes and waved off her offers of help. The kind gesture left her at once warmed and more confused, and so Iris was retreating to her room in the caravan to change and perhaps meet the woman she had been roomed with as well.

But when she saw a girl looking about as lost as she felt, Iris had to stop. Iris had a soft spot for children of every age, though she didn't have much experience with them. It was only by pure luck that she had had the loving attention of Sister Bikini as she grew up; she knew just how hard it would've been without that. She could never repay the kind Sister for what she had done, but she could reach out to any children she saw.

She put on a smile, though her voice was more hesitant that she would've liked. "Um, hello. Do you need any help?"

It seems a lot of people were having equally pleasant experiences with the villagers, friendly and generous almost to a fault. Nill had wandered by the shops after vising Heine and had been scooped up by female shopkeepers battling to see who could dress the little angel the cutest. They'd sent her on her way with a small sling bag and a few articles to keep her for part of the journey.

Nill looked up at the woman, not too much taller than she, when she spoke. She had a calm, gentle feel about her that it almost made her instantly feel relaxed, but there also seemed to be a slight sadness to her? Nill nodded slowly, fiddling with the Junogam a bit until it pulled up her room assignment, N-505, Nill and Emma Pillsbury. She turned the screen around to show Iris, pointing especially to the 'N-505' and 'Nill'.

She scanned the room and shook her head, trying to indicate she wasn't quite sure which direction the actual North Tower was. Glancing back to Iris her eyes caught the bundle of clothes the girl had and smiled, seems everyone in this world was just friendly to everyone else.

Iris peered at the screen when Nill showed it to her, noting the room and name as she wondered whether the girl was unable to speak or simply shier than anyone Iris had ever met before. In the end it was the same thing, so she simply straightened (not that she'd had to bend over far in the first place) with a nod. "Nice to meet you, Nill. My name's Iris."

"505, hmm? I guess that puts you in the tower next to mine. Let's see..." She scanned the area, then nodded to one of the staircases. "I...think that one would be it?" She shared a slightly embarrassed smile with Nill, admitting, "I'm not entirely sure, though. Should we check it out?"

She caught Nill's smile and answered it with another as she noted Nill's bag. "I felt bad when they just gave them to me, but I'm glad that I won't have to wear the same clothes the entire journey. That could be...uncomfortable." Not to mention smelly. She realized that she was talking quite a bit and trailed off. Either Edgeworth had flustered her more than she realized, or there was something about this girl that just made her feel more comfortable speaking.

The girl smiled and gave a small 'nice to meet you too' bow of the head. She followed Iris' gaze to the stairs, looking back to the Junogam for a moment and then nodding. Those should be the right stairs, well, they were the only Grand Staircase she'd ever seen before. She moved towards the stairs just slowly enough to agree on checking it out.

At the comment about her clothes Nill chuckled silently, nodding again in agreement. She tugged at her dress and then waved a hand in front of her nose as if it smelled bad to say: 'Would get smelly if worn everyday.'

Iris laughed quietly, hiding her mouth behind her hand. She wasn't sure where she picked up that habit; Sister Bikini laughed long and loud, head thrown back to the sky as if she was sharing her mirth with the universe. But Sister Bikini wore her heart on her sleeve - it was one of the things Iris loved best about her - and Iris herself had always, often out of necessity, kept her emotions mostly to herself. "That's exactly what I was thinking," she explained, not wanting Nill to think she was laughing at her.

She walked a bit faster than Nill towards the staircases. There was no need to hurry that Iris could see, and so she kept her steps small and measured. "Are you looking forward to this?" she asked, curious. The girl seemed cheerful enough, especially compared to most of the people posting on the network. Not that she was complaining, far from it!

When others laughed Nill found, almost out of habit, she couldn't help but laugh along as well. Silently that is, it was odd looking to chuckle without a sound but the emotion was clearly there. She nodded to Iris, just to reassure they were on the same page before taking a breath and straightening up.

Iris was a bit taller than herself so it took a couple extra steps to keep up. At the question the girl tapped her chin, a little dramatically to show she was thinking, before her smile smoothed out and she waved her hand horizontally back and forth as in: 'Sort of' It was difficult to convey most things before 'yes', 'no' and 'maybe for a mute so she motioned her hand to Iris to ask 'Are you?'

Iris watched Nill's response, moving a bit slower since her eyes were on her companion and not where she was going. Her hand rested lightly on the rail; she wouldn't need it unless she started to slip - she was used to much harder climbs. She nodded in response, tipping her head to the side as she considered the question as well.

"I'm determined to," she said finally, which wasn't entirely an answer. After a few seconds, she went on: "I don't know what will happen, but at least it will be something new, right?" She smiled softly. "Back home things were...complicated," she confided. Actually in many ways they were very simple, but the euphemism worked better. "Having a break from that will be nice."
