Zhou Yu had not expect to be given a room mate who would make it as easy for him as his last one had - a man named "Apollo" whom he had never even met, and whose existence he had begun to doubt. What he had not expected either, however, was the scene he found when he returned to his room. His possessions thrown outside, it was obvious that there was trouble ahead. He didn't have much here in this world, and carried most of his belongings with him, but he recognised the... "shuriken" Bret had given him, absurd as the weapon seemed.

With an icy glare of dignified contempt on his face, he entered the room, and stopped short in the door frame when he saw the scene before him.

Folding his arms in front of his chest, he stared down at the man lying in the middle of the chaos, and then demanded cold and crisp, "Are you done here?"

Heine had heard the footsteps from the hall. He'd been broken out of his doze even by the tread into the threshold. He was not a roommate person. If he was going to have to deal with this forever he'd be stuck sleeping in the showers, or curled up by the engines or in the lobby-

...No, the lobby area would be worse.

He would have to fine some place without people.

He didnt' move, didn't give any indication he was awake...

...And rememebred belatedly that his collar was exposed. Well, whatever. Maybe that would work in his favor.

He didn't move except to say, "Get out." Very quietly.

"Given the condition of this room, I most certainly will," Zhou Yu replied, icily - not moving an inch. He had left the door open, and gave no indication that he had any intention of closing it.

That man on the ground looked unnatural. For a moment, Zhou Yu was not sure if he was facing some sort of spirit, or in fact a human. He didn't ponder it too long, though.

"Stand up."

Heine almost smiled, but didn't. He'd never been one to listen to the voice of authority.

"Go to Hell." He replied without any real rancor, remaining where he was, lifting his arm just enough to get a look at the person talking to him.

He flinched, then realized it was a man, not a woman, and relaxed a little. He was a little curious, evne if he was more tired than anything.

Seemingly unaffected and unimpressed by the other's crudeness, Zhou Yu answered the look when Heine finally looked at him. He couldn't make out too much of the other's face, but there was something distinctly disturbing about this gaze, about man in general, his unnatural appearance and demeanour, lying in the middle of the darkened room like an exhausted animal.

At least he had been acknowledged now. Zhou Yu took a slow, measured step into the room, leaving the door open behind him. His hand rested lightly and inconspicuously on the hilt of his sword.

"Have you anything at all to say in regards to what you've done to this room?" he asked, calmly, with tightly controlled lightness.

There was no reasoning with this man, that much was clear. Whoever was in charge of distributing the rooms had decided to have Zhou Yu share his with a madman. If the scene he had created in the room was not enough, his behaviour pointed that much out painfully clearly.

Zhou Yu did not react visibly to the sight of the now exposed bolts in the other's neck. It was a mildly disturbing sight, a disturbing thought, rather, to have these things in one's body - but whatever appearances suggested, he had seen worse done to people. Truthfully, it did not affect him. And while their purpose and the manner in which they had been inserted invoked a bit of curiosity, Zhou Yu didn't pay them more than fleeting attention.

Making his way slowly through the demolished room, he held the sprawled out man in the corner of his eye, hand still resting on his sword with casual security, a gesture that wasn't aggressive, but ready.

When he had reached the window, he ran his hand over the make-shift curtain - then grasped it and tore it down.

The light nearly shot Heine out of his skin even from under his arm. He flinched, hard, but...completely failed to burst into flames just as totally as he had when Red had decided to test whether or not a pale person with neck bandages was a vampire by default.

What was with these people and bright light, though?

Heine groaned, and pulled himself upwards, sitting in the corner. His collar was barely even whispering as he scowled, blinking hard against the light.

...And there that silken nobleman with the stupid ponytail was fondling that hilt of his sword, as though that wasn't a hostile gesture all on its own. Well wasn't he just a smug bastard. Too bad Heine really did just want a nap, not a fight. Not that he'd turn it down if it came to that, but his point was to get the room to himself so he could sleep, not murder some prissy jerk ( ... )

There. That was a reaction, finally. The other man rose, if lazily, clinging to an odd metal object in his hand, likely a personal keepsake. Zhou Yu didn't know what guns were, so he paid it no mind.

He nodded, acknowledging and appreciating the fact that Heine had gotten up as asked. He didn't move himself, but he found himself weighing the other man's posture, his movements, that rage in those unnatural red eyes - he wasn't sure if that was just his imagination. An animal's eyes were near impossible to read.

Chin held high and with the genuine calmness of a commander evaluating a situation, he held his ground, and answered the glare with a steely stare.

"I have no desire to fight you," he explained, unfazed. "But unless you restore the room to its original condition, you will leave. If you want to act like an animal, you will sleep outside like one, too."

That got an ironic twitch of Heine's lip. It was funny, by his definitions, anyway, for sheer unwitting appropriateness ( ... )

His sword was too large and heavy to effectively swing in a small room like this. Zhou Yu was aware of that, especially with the increasingly aggressive bearing of the other man. Perhaps it was not intentional, perhaps it was a misinterpretation, but Zhou Yu saw it in him, reminded of past battles. He changed his stance accordingly, though minimally; just enough to allow him to draw his sword in a wide arch if necessary, swift and brutal. His back to the wall, in the corner of the room, he had a certain advantage when it came to covering all his sides, or so he calculated.

"Had you asked me," he explained, coolly, but fully honestly, "I would not have considered it a problem, and would have left the room to you willingly. But this..." There was a tinge of disgust in his words. "To abuse these people's hospitality like this, that is despicable. You will make amends and restore the room to its former condition, or you will not get a minute here to sleep."

Heine studied him, taking that in and processing it.

It sounded deceptively...normal.

"...You're weird." he said finally, a little more mildly. What else was he supposed to say to someone who would give up their room if asked? It seemed so polite and deferential it was suspicious.

Of course it could just be lip-service to justify some pissed-off pretty-boy fight sequence.

That seemed more likely.

Either way, though, that made things more complicated.

"I can't get a minute to sleep because you're here." He explained slowly, methodically, scowling and studying him for any hint of comprehension. "I wrecked the room because I didn't want you here."

Seriously, how much more obvious could he get?

There was a short exhale, just the hint of a laugh that he suppressed. He didn't look any more relaxed than before though - or any more tense. Keeping a calm eye on Heine, measuring his movements, he stood firmly but ready, gauging the distance between them.

"Yes, I understood that part," he replied coolly, with no indication of being impressed either way. "And you thought you would accomplish something this way? More than by talking to me?"

He shook his head, both at the man's audacity and his incomprehensible thought processes.

"I cannot accept this," he explained finally. "What you have done to this place, which was offered to you for free, by a man who has been protecting us - No. I cannot let you have your way with this sort of behaviour. Restore the room to its original condition. This is not negotiable."

"Leave then," Zhou Yu answered coolly. "Nothing holds you here. You are on this caravan as a guest, not as a prisoner. If it is so unbearable to you, leave. But if you accept this offer of hospitality, then don't abuse it."

He could see a certain fighting spirit, and no doubt ferocity, in this man. It would be a mistake to take him lightly. And yet... for all he had heard and seen, however strong this strange, white-haired beast was, he was acting more like a spoilt child than anything. Perhaps that made him more dangerous, but it also made it imperative to explain to him his options, which Zhou Yu was beginning to suspect he did not even understand.

"You are like a child," he finally said, truthfully. "You fought in this town for your own survival, for their lady to let you stay under her roof. You were paid back the same night. Do you think you would have stood a chance there alone? I say it again - if the rules of our host are unbearable to you, leave."

Two strategist-warriors locked in epic banter until the end of time... canisorption February 24 2011, 19:51:22 UTC
Heine rolled his eyes.

RIght. This caravan was wandering around claiming to be the only way home. It had a monopoly in that regard if the rumors were true, and while it might provide its service truthfully, that didn't mean it couldn't charge what it liked as the price of admission along the way.

If he wasn't on it, then he couldn't investigate it.

...By which he meant Badou couldn't investigate it.

He was becoming more and more certain that not only was this man a plant, but-

"I'm not a moron."

He didn't have to explain his little clash with Red to this guy, or explain how he got kicked out of the city for not explaining what he was. (Like he owed that to anyone, and like that would keep him behind the wall any longer, anyway.)

He scowled moodily at the floor, grip tightening on his mauser.

"I'm the last person to be on here because I want to go home. Leaving isn't something I can do until I find out what happened to my partner."

He just wanted to figure out how the place workedHe rubbed his forehead with a grunt. Damn, this ( ... )
